If you have a smaller child or a child who likes to sleep in the car, you’re going to want to consider using a high back booster seat. When browsing online, you’ll find that there are many high back booster seats available. We’re here today to provide you with a Clek Oobr review.

After reading this Clek Oobr review, you’ll know if this is the right booster for your child.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Car Booster Seat

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, children should be in harness car seats until they outgrow it. Once your child outgrows a harness car seat, you’ll switch to a booster car seat. Booster car seats provide support but rely on the seatbelt in the car to strap your child into place.

If you’re buying a booster seat for the first time, there are a few different things that you’re going to need to consider:

  • Your Child’s Height – Your child should be in a booster seat until they are at least 4’9” tall. You’ll also want to check the manufacturer’s height requirements for the booster seat when comparing options.
  • Your Child’s Weight – Booster seats also come with minimum and maximum weight requirements. You’ll want to look at these closely when buying a car booster seat.
  • Your Child’s Age – Children will typically be in booster seats from the ages of five to 11.
  • High Back or Booster? – You have two options when shifting away from harness car seats. You can choose between high back boosters and backless boosters. High back boosters tend to provide more support. They prevent slumping and can make for a more comfortable ride for your child.

Clek Oobr Review

Clek is a Canadian company specializing in the production of car and booster seats. Customers can purchase the product on Amazon at an affordable price.

Although this may seem pricey, the seat could be an investment that parents deem worthwhile. The Oobr can switch between “High Back Mode” and “Backless Mode,” meaning the chair will last for years as your child continues to grow.

Features and Benefits

The height requirements for High Back Mode are 38” – 57”. The weight requirements are 33 pounds – 100 pounds. The height requirements for Backless Mode are 40” – 57”. The weight requirements are 40 pounds – 100 pounds. Clek recommends that children do not use this seat until at least four years old, no matter which mode the seat is in.

The booster comes with a unique reclining seat feature, allowing children to be more comfortable when sleeping in the car. The seat offers 12 degrees of recline. You’ll also find that the headrest is on sliders, making it completely adjustable. As your child grows, you can adjust the headrest quickly to keep him or her safe and comfortable.

The Oobr also comes with Clek’s Rigid-LATCH system. This system is designed to work with your seatbelt so that you can lock the seat into place quickly. Thanks to this system, you can install and remove the booster in a matter of seconds.

What are Other Customers Saying?

When browsing online, it appears as though other customers are quite impressed with the Clek Oobr. The product has a 4.3-star rating on online e-commerce sites with more than 230 customer reviews. Of those who reviewed the product, two-thirds gave it a five-star rating. Customers indicated that adjusting the car seat was easy and that the product was durable enough to last for years.

There were two primary concerns that we found when reading customer reviews. Some parents complained that when their child reclined the booster seat, they ended up too far forward and the belt fit awkwardly as a result. Additionally, some parents said that the booster seat did not work well for taller children with long legs.

Alternative Options

Clek Oobr is a car booster seat that’s worthy of your consideration. But how does it stack up compared to other products?

Britax Highpoint

This high-back booster seat comes with a ten-position head restraint so that parents can adjust the support as their child grows. The seat also comes with three layers of side impact protection. Unlike the Oobr, this is not a convertible booster seat. Parents cannot switch between high-back and backless models.

Much like the Britax model, the Chicco car seat offers ten levels of support and adjustment. However, unlike the Britax, which adjusts solely at the neck, the Chicco adjusts from the waist so that the back of the seat is more comfortable for both the head and shoulders. Like the Britax, this model does not convert to a backless booster seat.
