Our Review of the phil&teds dash buggy

Get ready to discover the active urbane inline buggy, where form and function unite - the phil&teds dash buggy. With cushier padding than the phil&teds sport buggy, the dash envelops children in soft comfort. A handbrake responds instantly, guaranteeing safe strolling. The dash accommodates children from birth up to 5 years and 55 lbs.

Or get funky with the dash in the graffiti pattern. Featuring an edgy, graffiti-art pattern and coming complete with the doubles kit, the phil&teds dash buggy lets you stroll with edge. And because the graffiti fabric is cut at different points, each phil&teds graffiti stroller is truly unique.

Standout Features:

  • Adapts to the newest additions to the family by converting to a slim tandem double stroller with the double kit
  • 4 position contour seat reclines flat
  • Multi-position adjustable handle for those tall and taller
  • Hand brake

With the right phil&teds accessories, the dash buggy has four possible modes:

  • Single baby stroller
  • Single toddler stroller
  • Double baby and toddler stroller
  • Double toddler stroller

Benefits for You: phil&teds won a loyal following with the sport buggy, and they deliver additional features to parents with the dash stroller. An intelligent handle with a handbrake lets you stop more easily than ever. The trigger fold mechanism means the dash collapses quickly and compactly for easy storage just about anywhere. Add the phil&teds up & away travel bag to protect your dash baby stroller during transit.

The dash expands to become a double stroller just by adding the phil&teds doubles kit for the dash! phil&teds knows that parents need a stroller that adapts, even when little ones spill meals on the go - tough, washable, and waterproof fabric stands up to the toughest messes.

You choose the handle height, which is fully adjustable. A front swivel wheel and rear wheels feature sturdy treads for tackling any terrain. The handlebar brake allows quick stops. The roomy underseat basket holds all the accoutrement of parenting, though adding the phil&teds blazing saddles pannier bags creates extra space for diapers and bottles.

Compatibility: With the phil&teds travel system the dash accepts the following infant car seats:

Benefits for Baby: Babies cuddle up surrounded by the plush padding of the phil&teds dash. A foot rest keeps little feet comfortable. Add the zip on phil&teds stormy weather cover and phil&teds UV sunny days mesh cover for added protection when weather and bugs arrive.

Kids enjoy resting their little hands on the padded bumper bar. A peek-a-boo window allows baby and you to interact. Fully adjustable, the seat accommodates an infant or nap time.

The sun canopy provides ample shade in most positions; however, when used with the double kit with the newborn in the flat position and the toddler in the second seat, the sun shade is a tight fit over your older child.

Safety:

  • 5-point harness
  • Handbrake
  • Meets international safety standards

Comparison: For a stroller with a little less padding, but with plenty of cushion, check out the phil&teds sport buggy. The sport is phil&teds most recognized stroller, and delivers sporty style (at a lower price!).

Wouldn't do without it!

Awesome stroller if you still want to be on the go with two kids! Easy to fold and unfold, very nice looking, compact and narrow enough that you can cruise through any store aisles that you normally would. Good big tires that make it possible to still go on a walk even if there's lots of snow on the ground or pushing it through the sand on a beach. I am a very short woman and I haven't had any problems going on walks with this stroller with the seat in the back. Absolutely love this stroller and would (and have) recommend it to my friends. Without this stroller I would have very much less freedom as a mom of two!

The best double stroller on the market!

Reviewer: Tiana , Artesia, NM Date: January 07, 2010
I have two small children and before my second child was born, my husband and I did extensive searching for a double stroller. The side-by-side versions were just too wide and were not designed for a newborn and a toddler. The other inline versions we looked at were either too bulky, very heavy, poorly made or just plain didn't make sense for 2 kids unless they were twins. The Dash was a perfect fit for us and my toddler loves it. She sits in both the main seat and in the doubles seat. It's great!!! Not to mention that I've gotten tons of compliments and people have asked where they can get one too.....is there a Phil&Teds referral program? :)

Downhill Danger

3
Reviewer: Anonymous , Salmon Arm, BC Date: November 25, 2009
A great stroller for the following reasons: trendy, compact even with double kit, nice accessories, easy to manuver, quality-built. Terrible stroller for the following reasons: expensive, dangerous going down hill, can't apply brake with one hand, front seat too short for taller children. To elaborate on the dangers & inconveniences...There is no brake that can be partially applied when going down steeper hills. When the double kit is attached the handle is not long enough, making it impossible to stay close enough to the stroller to keep it under control. You have to either walk out at the side of the stroller or straddle the double seat. I'm of average height and I find it extremely difficult to manage on hills. You couldn't use this stroller in the winter on icy sidewalks. My other concern is if you have one child in hand and need to apply the brake, you can't. It requires 2 hands to push in the buttons to apply the brake. The buttons can be sticky and at times require multiple tries. I can't believe these issues have not been addressed in previous models. If I could do it over again, I would pay the extra money and buy the Vibe with the extendable handle.

Not worth it, at all

The Phil and Ted is woefully overpriced for what it delivers. When 2 kids are loaded there is no space left for your feet when walking down a hill. You have to contortion your legs to straddle the child underneath and it is very uncomfortable and unsafe. I know they have hills in N.Z., didn't they go down them when testing? The canopy is also not adjustable so, heaven forbid that the sun may be coming from the direction you are going - no visor to stop it! We have a baby trend jogger and for $120 it has all of these features. Come on!

Dad's love it too

After the initial shock that I was going to have to pay for another stroller I found that this Stroller was a great concept. Our second child comes into the world in two days. We have a two year old and did not want a bulky football field length stroller. We received it about two months ago and I love it. It is fantastic. It is not as easy to fold and extend as our Chicco stroller, but the Chicco Stroller is not a double stroller. Takes some getting used to. I wish it had cheaper accessories but this is a $700 stroller. It's like asking for a $100 stereo in a Bentley. All in all this is a perfect stroller. I recommend it to every one.

Wonderful Stroller!

Reviewer: Elizabeth , Virginia Beach, Virginia Date: June 22, 2009
Well, after convincing my husband to let me spend the money on this stroller, I must admit we are both satisfied customers. We bought this now for a five year old (39 lbs), and a three year old (30 lbs). We are also expecting another baby in September, and thought this would be the most versatile stroller for our family. We mainly use this to walk around places such as Busch Gardens, and we have no major complaints. A few minor ones, however, as the previous reviewer said: storage, and lack of shade. If you are going to use this as a double stroller, you will VERY likely need the saddle bags . Also, I know that once my new baby is born, I am going to want the sunshade to make sure he is well protected. Another minor flaw we noticed was walking downhill is a little difficult with the second seat attached. My husband also stated that if the handlebar came out another six inches or so it would be MUCH more comfortable to push/manuever/walk downhill. Overall though, we love it and are extremely happy with our purchase! Oh! I should also add that we purchased the hangbag as well, and it is extremely handy, and does not bother my daughter at all while she is sitting in the second seat.

Gorgeous Stroller

Reviewer: Juggling Kids , Fountain Hills, AZ Date: June 04, 2009
First off, I love how beautiful this thing is. To quote my mother in law, "It's the Mercedes of strollers." Oh so true. I love how classy it looks. The fabric is high quality. The colors are stylish. The design is attractive. If I had to rate it solely based on looks, I would give it 5 stars easily. The stroller also drives beautifully. It pushes without much exertion at all. I had my 33lb boy, and my 40lb girl in the thing, and it was still nearly effortless to push. I could even guide it with one hand -- which is not something a normal double stroller lends itself to. The handle adjusts to two different levels. I can push at either height easily. The wheels are larger than the normal stroller, and are inflated like bicycle tires instead of being a hard plastic like most stroller wheels are. I'm sure this is one thing that really helps keep the stroller moving smoothly. I have, however, somehow managed to get a hole in the front tire already. I'm sure it's an easy fix, though it's certainly a pain to deal with this early in the game. The only real negative I can find is when the doubles seat is attached I do find I have to lean over a bit in order to avoid hitting my legs on the stroller. I don't mind too much, though I do feel a very slight strain in my back when I first start pushing. Ultimately, it's a tiny trade off in order to have a more compact double stroller. The second seat is a very great concept. It is detachable. If I want a single stroller, I have one. If I want a double stroller, I have one of those, too. My only qualm is that the second seat only holds smaller children. The weight limit is up to 33lbs -- and the child can't be very tall and still have their head fit on the padding of the seat. It's GREAT if you're planning to use your stroller with a smaller baby and an older toddler, but not so great if you have two older toddlers. It is, however, very well padded. It's also a simple task to put the extra seat on or take off. I also LOVE the 5 point harness system for both main and doubles seats. It is much more secure (and simple to latch and unlatch) than most stroller seat belts I've come across. I never worry about my child undoing the belt and falling out, either. LOVE it. The handle break is wonderful, too. I MUCH prefer it over a foot break as I frequently wear sandals and it's hard to unlock the foot breaks without closed toed shoes. Plus, there's never a question as to whether the break is engaged. Sometimes the foot break will be half engaged and you just wonder why it's more difficult to push the stroller. With the handle break, there's off and there's on. There's no in between to confuse. I do wish I didn't have to press a button on *both* sides of the handle in order to use the break. That makes it impossible to engage the break with one hand -- which sometimes would be extremely helpful. The storage for the stroller, I'll admit upfront, is lacking. It's not a problem when using as a single stroller. However, when the second seat is in use, especially if a bigger child is in tow, the storage basket is used to rest their legs in. This leaves virtually no storage for other items. There are additional accessories that can be purchased from Phil and Teds -- namely saddle bags that go on either side of the stroller. They're not cheap, but I am seeing now they are a necessary addition if you want to have enough storage while out. Another accessory that I may find myself purchasing soon is the mesh sunshade . There is no sunshade at all for the backseat. A lot of time the front seat or the person pushing the stroller shades the backseat some, but in the Arizona sun, I need to know my child isn't sitting in constant sun. Overall, I love it. There are a few extras I would like to get, but at this point I'm pretty satisfied.
