Recall Notice: Britax Frontier

Britax has announced a recall of the Britax Frontier car seat. The recall includes all Frontier car seats manufactured between April 1, 2008 and September 14, 2008 for model numbers E9L54E7 (Frontier Red Rock), E9L54H6 (Frontier Rushmore), E9L54H7 (Frontier Pink Sky), and E9L54M6 (Frontier Canyon) and between April 1, 2008 and September 17, 2008 on model number E9L5490 (Frontier Sahara).

According to the recall notice, if the harness straps are loosened separately, the harness may slip off of the metal yoke in back of the seat. If you registered your seat with Britax, you will receive a repair kit and instructions that will be mailed no later than January 7, 2008. If you did not register your seat, you may register for the recall at frontierrecall.com (link) or you may call 1-800-683-2045.

Your Next Steps

  1. Verify that your Britax Frontier is a model number manufactured during the time period described above. Relevant information is located on the child's right-hand side, near the top of the seat. There should be a white label with the seat's serial number, manufacture date, and batch number.
  2. Confirm that your seat's harness system is properly attached to the metal yoke. If the harness is properly attached, you may continue to safely use your child restraint.
  3. If you submitted your warranty card, Britax will mail a repair kit to you no later than January 7, 2008.
