Great affordable seat

We have the Metropolitan version of this as well as the Britax Decathlon (for the other car), and this seat is actually easier to get my son into and out of! I do not have any problem adjusting the straps as claimed in other reviews, but that might be based on the car and how the seat fits. I currently have it rear-facing for my 8 month old. Although it's not as plush as the Britax, my son doesn't seem to notice the difference at all. So for less than half the price of the Britax, this is a very good seat! I highly recommend this. I would normally have bought 2 of these, but I did want one of our seats to last longer (Britax is rated to 65 lbs, this is only rated to 40 lbs).

Frustrating Seat!

I have always been a fan of Graco products. So when it was time to get a bigger cat seat it was just natural to chose this one. I did a lot of research and compared prices. I was considering a Britax Marathon but wasnt sure that it would fit in my car, so I ended up with a total of 3 Graco ComfortSport car seats (one for each car and one for the sitter). The first few months I had to use it rear facing. It was hard to get it installed the proper way but eventually we got a rock soild fit(using the middle rear lap belt). Then we realized that the strap to loosen and tighten the harness was at an odd angle. There was nothing that we could do about it, so we just put up with it, figuring that once she was able to be forward facing it would be much easier.
We were wrong. Forward facing also had problems. The first thing we noticed is that the straps were never even. No matter how careful I was or how much I'd pull, one strap was always slightly looser than the other. We removed the seat numerous times to see if there was something on the back of the seat that was making the straps uneven but we found nothing.
The harness was still hard to adjust, it wasnt at a weird angle anymore, but it took a lot of patience to tighten the straps around the child..lots of hard pulling.
The final straw was when I went to put the child in the seat, fastend the crouch buckle and the chest clip, then went to pull it tight, the left shoulder strap pulled out of the shell of the seat and way resting on my childs lap! It wasnt torn, but it disconnected from the splitter plate on the back of the seat. I know the straps were connected the way the instructions told us to do it. We checked each time we removed the seat to see why the straps were always uneven. We discontinuted use right away and replaced all them with Britax Marthons.
I'm still a fan of Graco products, but I would think twice before getting this particular seat. I still gave the seat 2 stars because of the comfort, price and high harness slots.

Comments from The Staff:

Oy - sounds like you had nothing but issues with this seat. I'm really sorry to hear that - Graco really does manufacture great products. Maybe they were defective? I've never heard of the straps loostening like that. If you bought them from us, give us a call when you can, so we can start the return process. Sorry they didn't work out for you!

Nice Seat, hard to adjust

Reviewer: Jennifer , Alpharetta, GA Date: June 26, 2006
We really liked the looks of the seat, and the baby seems to prefer it to our other. However, the strap is a ratchet type strat, and hard to adjust in many cars. If the seat it is installed in has a greater depth than the seat, loosening and tightening the straps is hard. Our other seat is an EvenFlo and it has a knob to tighten and loosen. That is much easier, but the baby seems more comfortable in the Graco.

Graco Comfort Sport - Save Your Money

Reviewer: Jill Boyd , North Bergen, NJ Date: June 24, 2006
Our 6 month-old daughter was ready to move up from the Snug-Ride infant seat to a combo seat. After much comparing of pricing, amenities and safety features, we chose the Graco Comfort Sport. We had been happy with Graco products and felt good about the purchase. The straps on this seat are horrendous. They are never even and continually loosen. My daughter has been able to squeeze her arms through the straps from the middle hole so they fall off her shoulders. She is bigger now (1 year / 23 lbs. / 30 in.) and we moved the straps to the top hole which helped slightly, but she is still able to squeeze her arms through and move the straps off her shoulders. I would not recommend this specific car seat, although Graco may have a better combo seat on the market.

Both her and my granddaughter (yes you read that right) love this car seat best. We have the booster and this one in the car and they "fight" over this one.

Great seat!

Reviewer: Mom to my two boys , Raleigh, NC Date: October 28, 2005
We bought two of these carseats. One is for my 3 year old, and we put our younger child in the other one rear facing starting at age 3 months when he got too big for his infant seat. I've had to take the covers off to wash them a few times, and I'm so glad I don't have to take the whole seat out to do so! Both boys seem comfortable and don't complain (too much!) about sitting in them on long trips. It is definately MUCH more cushy than our old carseat, which only had a thin pad of foam. The only thing I don't love about this seat is that you can't adjust the straps easily when it's rear-facing because that part of the seat is pressed against the back seat of the car. I can't think of any way this could be fixed though, since it is very easy to adjust once the seat is turned to forward facing. I would recommend this carseat to my dearest friends.

Great seat for your money!

I have had this seat for about a month now. It fits in both our cars.. even though it is a bit snug in my geo and you have to move the passenger seat all the way up but thats ok. It is easy to get in.. and even though the straps are hard to adjust while rear facing (its not impossible) it isn't that big of a deal if you do it before you put the seat in your car.. the seat is soft and looks good. and for the price compaired to the other seats on the market it is great.

Graco just keeps on getting better

I bought this car seat for my year old son since our old carseat had been in an accident. I like the way the seat looks and the padding is great. I had a problem with the seat being too upright. I kept the carseat for my next child, but also bought the Graco carseat that comes with a snooze bar. It helps keep the carseat reclined a little bit. Overall...they are both great seats. The straps sometimes twist, but they always twist right back.

We bought a much more expensive seat for my car and then this seat for my husband's car but we like it as much as the other one. Installation is MUCH easier on this one.
