Love the Regent!!!

Reviewer: Anonymous , Buckhead, Georgia Date: December 03, 2007
I read the reviews, and after having a Britax Marathon for nearly 3 years, I decided to purchase the Regent. My 3 year old son, was just getting too tall for the Marathon...plus I kept bumping his head when I was loading him in the car! The Regent arrived the other day and I was nervous when I saw how big the box was, but I love the seat! The safety features are wonderful, and my son loves his new big boy seat! It fits just fine in my 2003 Ford Explorer, and I expect it will fit in our 2003 Ford Supercrew as well. I feel much safer with him in this car seat, rather than moving to a booster with a seatbelt harness...he just isn't big enough for that yet...and I'm not ready for him to be in a seat belt yet either. I want to try to keep him in a harness as long as possible, and I think this car seat will help us to do that! I wish the driver seat in my suv were as comfortable as the Regent looks!!!! And, elitecarseats.com is the BEST to order from!!!! Thanks!!!

I bought this seat in the pink and flower design. My daughter loves it. I Installed it using the seat belt and that baby aint moving! IT was not to hard to install. It did take up all of the seat belt. I followed the book directions and went by a website called, kyledavidmiller.org. There is a video on how to install it. I have a Honda Piolit and it fits fine. If I had to I can fit a Graco safe seat in the middle and britax wizard on the other end. My daughter does sit lower in the seat since there is no base to the seat. She is still able to look out the window fine. She weights 32lb and 37in tall. She is a small little thing and has plenty of room all around. We made a 6hr trip and she had no complaints. PROS goes up to 80lbs harnessed, comfortable for long trips. CONS it is a little harder then the britax wizard model to loosen and tighten the straps, if child falls asleep will get a neck crank bc there is nothing to put head on. All minor things that I don't mind because keeping my child safe is all I care about.

Great, big, seat

We have stuck with Britax all along, and since this seat is one of the only ones we could find that had a five point harness for older children-and they can be used when the seat is installed with our van's standard seat belt (we don't have latch), it was an obvious choice. Others noted the large size of the seat; it's a big one, and it dwarfs my petit four-year-old, but I'm glad she'll have many years to grow in it. Like most Britax seats we've owned, the harness height is easy to adjust, and the ability to easily change the snugness of the belts on her is always a wonderful benefit. I didn't give 5 stars for three reasons: 1) There are no built-in locking clips for standard auto belts...this was one of the big reasons we purchased Britax in the past. I love those locking mechanisms. 2) It is a royal pain to install when using standard auto belts. I imagine it's a breeze with a latch vehicle, but ours is an older model, and sticking my arms through the back of the seat to get the buckle out of the other side was next to impossible. I don't think my husband's arms would even fit through. This has made changing the seat from one car to the other, something we may never do! 3)There is a bar that must be positioned in the back of the seat when it is placed on the vehicle's seat; it doesn't fit well in to the holes. Actually, it almost falls out completely before the car seat can be installed correctly. Since this has to be used with all autos, I wonder why it wasn't permanently installed by the factory?

A great seat! My soon to be 4 year old loves it! She even thanked me for her new seat :) It is a monster, that is for sure, but with latch, super easy to install. I love knowing she is safe in her 5 point harness :)

I bought 2 of these for my son (one for each car) at the end of last year, and have been pleased. He is 4yrs old, 45lbs, 43 inches, and he has plenty of room in the Regent. I have a Passat, my husband has an Altima, and the Regent fits fine in both. Our daughter is also in a Roundabout, and there is a little room between the two of them for toys, etc. We'll be buying two more very soon for our daughter. Elite was a pleasure to work with. They have great customer service.

Great car seat

If you want to keep your child in the 5 pt. harness as long as you can, this is a fantastic car seat. Like so many people, I watched that youtube video and decided then to keep my daughter in a car seat type thing vs. a booster. The seat is gorgeous, it's roomy and it's safe. My daughter is tall and skinny, so a booster just didn't seem like the best for us. I don't see any real downside except the size. If you don't have an SUV, or you have more than 2 kids, I think this car seat will be too big. Britax is also a great company. A seam on the car seat started to rip after only 1 week (very odd) and Britax immediately sent a replacement and was great to deal with. So, great customer service (and from this site as well) and an incredibly safe seat.

Britax Regent Toddler Car Seat

Reviewer: Gloria Swigert-Evereth , Appleton, NY Date: October 25, 2007
The safety features of this car seat are equal to none. That is the bottom line for me. The only small annoyance for me is that sometimes the straps get twisted in the buckles. Probably because I'm always in a hurry and should be more careful. Again, I can live with twisted straps knowing that my child is in the safest car seat on the market.
