Can't Say Enough...

Great things about the helpful staff at Elite CarSeats and the Britax Regent.
I had no problems installing this seat using the recline bar, latch system and tether in the SUV or the Accord.
My almost 3 year old loves her "big girl seat" and I love the fact that she will be in a 5-pt harness for several more more years.
The staff at Elite was extremely helpful and patient with me since the seat was backordered and I didn't care what color the fabric was.
I will be recommending Elite CarSeats and the Britax Regent.

I got the Britax Regent for my 5-year-old son with cerebral palsy. He weighs 43 pounds and needs the 5pt harness to stay in his seat properly. The Regent is big and heavy, but it fit fine in the second row of our Grand Caravan. It also installed easily once I followed the directions! This is a sturdy seat and reasonably priced compared to similar seats made for kids with special needs.

I did a lot of research on car seats because my 2 year old son was getting ready to outgrow his Britax Roundabout and I wanted something that I felt was completely safe for him to be in. He is too young for a belt positioning booster and I did not want another convertible seat like the Marathon. I like how the Regent sits right on the seat and looks more grown up like a booster. I actually tried the Sunshine Kids Radian first because the Regent was backordered for several months and the Radian was similar in style. Needless to say, it was too small for my 35lb. 2 year old. Returned it and waited for the Regent. We actually bought 2 (one for each car) and could not be happier!
This seat is very large and heavy, but I feel that it is so safe and that's my number one concern. I have a 4 door sedan and it's installed in the middle seat. No one else can sit back there (the seat belts aren't accessible), but it's not an issue right now. My husband has a station wagon and it is also in the middle seat. The other 2 seats are unaffected. The install was so easy. I did it by myself. I did read some reviews where people were saying they could not get a tight install and the directions do not tell you this, but you need to pull your seat belt all the way out and then let it retract to activate the locking mechanism (it will make a clicking noise as it locks back down). If it doesn't lock down you'll need a locking clip.
My son loves this seat too. He looks so tiny in it. He's got so much room to grow. It did take him a little while to fall asleep in the seat because it sits more upright then his Roundabout, but he's doing fine now.
I cannot express how happy I am with this seat. The quality and safety features are top notch and this seat is worth every penny.
The customer service at Elite car seats is also the best. They answered all my questions and I had my seat 2 days after ordering! Could not be happier!

GREAT SEAT!!!!!

WE RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS SEAT FOR MY 2.5 YRS OLD SON WHO WEIGHS 37 lbs AND WAS OUT GROWING HIS MARATHON AS FAR AS HEIGHT GOES. HE IS 41 INCHES TALL(WOW, MY TALL BOY). WE INSTALLED THE SEAT WITH OUT ANY PROBLEMS. WE USED THE LATCH AND TETHER. WE BOUGHT TWO OF THEM ONE TO GO IN EACH CAR :A HONDA ODYSSEY AND ACCORD. THEY FIT GREAT IN EACH CAR. I EVEN KNOW SOMEONE WHO PUT ONE IN A HONDA CIVIC. THIS IS A BIG, HEAVY SEAT, BUT I DON'T THINK THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MARATHON AND THE REGENT. AND ONCE YOU GET IT IN THERE IT IS REALLY IN THERE! WE LOVED OUR MARATHONS AND NOWMY 10 MONTH OLD IS USING THOSE AND MY 2.5 YR OLD HAD THE REGENT. WE FEEL BRITAX CARSEATS ARE SOME OF THE SAFEST AND MOST COMFORTABLE CARSEATS YOU CAN BUY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SEAT TO ANYONE AND AS FAR AS THE PRICE GOES ,IT DOES COST MORE THAN A LOT OF OTHER SEATS, BUT YOU CAN NOT PUT A PRICE ON THE SAFETY OF YOU CHILDREN. SEATBELT DON'T ALWAYS WORK, THEY CAN FAIL AND CHILDREN HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SAFETY OF A 5 POINT HARNESS. THERE IS A VIDEO ABOUT A LITTLE WHO WAS KILLED BECAUSE HIS SEATBELT DIDN'T WORK. GO TO WWW.YOUTUBE.COM AND LEARN ABOUT A LITTLE BOY WHOSE NAME IS KYLE AND WAS 3 YRS OLD WHO LOST HIS PRECIOUS LITTLE LIFE. THE NAME OF THE VIDEO IS IMPORTANCE OF 5 POINT HARNESS. PLEASE WATCH THIS AND I KNOW YOU MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION FOR YOUR FAMILY.
Comments from The Staff:
Thanks for the review! The difference between the Marathon and the Regent, is that the Marathon is a convertible seat, meaning that it can face forward, or backward - so it can accommodate a child from infancy to 65 pounds. The Regent can only face forward - so your child must be old enough to face forward before you can start using it.
The Britax seats are very comfortable, and easy to use. They are not, however, safer than any other seats on the market. In order to be sold in this country, child restraints must meet a set of safety standards set forth by NHTSA. So you're not going to find one seat that's safer than another. They either pass the safety standards, or they don't.
Now, if one seat is less comfortable, or more difficult to install, then the chances that your child might be injured in that seat are higher - because they might not sit in the seat properly because it's uncomfortable, or the seat might not protect them properly because it's not been installed properly because it was too complicated - but that doesn't mean that the seat itself is less safe - if used properly, it would protect the child just as well as the more comfortable, easier to use seat.
Until recently, most child restraints had weight capacities of about 40 pounds - so when LATCH was designed, the lower anchors in cars were only made to withstand about 48 pounds. Now, you can get car seats that will accommodate children up to 65 or 80 pounds, yet you still have anchors in cars that can only take about 48 pounds - that's why at some point, you must uninstall the restraint from LATCH, and just use the seatbelt and tether. Always check your vehicles instruction manual - most lower anchors in cars will not support 65 or 80 pounds.
Installing a child seat with LATCH is NOT SAFER than installing it with the vehicles seat belt. It's simply easier - so the liklihood you'll install the car seat correctly is increased. But, you can install a car seat with the seat belt, or with LATCH, it's personal preference. One is NOT safer than another.

I have two of the Regents for our 6yr old and 2 yr old, easy to install, fits securly, both kids love it they both say how comfy it is, thely love the side pockets, and my 6yr old who weighs 50lbs and is pretty tall has alot of room to grow and it fits our 2yr old very well also, I will not have to purchase another seat for either of them, it is a solid, heavy, sturdy car seat, not like the flimsy booster seats, and they can sit criss-cross and have toys next to them, there is plenty of room, this is my second time purchasing from Elite and I am so thankful that there is still a company out there with such prompt, friendly, professional customer service, keep up the great standard. The Regent is definately the new standard in car seats!

Worth the Money

We bought this for our 3 year old son who has outgrown a cheaper, smaller
car seat in my car. He's been in a Britax Marathon in my wife's car and we
have been very pleased with it. We wanted a to get a Britax Regent so he'd
have a little more growing room, but found out they were back-ordered. We
chose the Decathlon over another Marathon because of the adjustable crotch
strap--that's where his smaller car seat had become too tight. We're not
sure if the Decathlon's adjustable crotch strap gives much more room than
the Marathon, though. Anyway, he still has quite a bit of growing room left
in both seats. They're expensive, but worth the money for straps that don't
tangle and for him to be so comfortable on long trips.

My son weighs 60 lbs. and has Aspergers. Rage is sometimes part of behavior, and this seat holds him securely even through one of those. He does complain that it is a hard seat, so only four stars. Otherwise, I'm confident that he is safe and secure.

Worht Every Dollar!

I recently bought this seat because my 3 yr. old son outweighed the 40 lb weight limit for 5 point harness in his last seat. I tried the seatbelt in my car with the belt positioner, it did not fit right--not to mention he was out of it in 2 seconds. I do drive a midsize car. (I drive a Nissan Altima) It does fit, but measure your car. When the seat came out of the box I got worried that it wouldn't fit. (It's HUGE) Evan LOVES this seat. On long trips he is able to get comfortable and not squirm so much and usually get a nap in. He doesn't look like he's squished in it like so many other seats. All mechanisms work like a dream also. More money than most but worth every dollar.
