Reviews for Britax Marathon convertible car seat
Mixed feelings

I have had my Britax Marathon for almost 2 1/2 years. I first bought it for my daughter; now my son uses it as my daughter is in a Regent now. I am not denying that the Marathon is a study seat, but my mixed feelings make me not recommend it to my friends. First, the base it very high, making it hard for my kids to climb into the seat themselves. When I do pick up my nearly 4 year old son to place him in the seat, I knock his head on the car roof. I also kind of question the reasoning for having the base so high. He likes the fact that he can see out the window of our mini-van well, but I like the Regent being right on the seat (it does not have a base). Second, the reason we had to move my daughter to a Regent is that even though she was technically within the weight/height limits of the Marathon, she was very uncomfortable. Both my kids are very tall for their ages, and my daughter is also in the 95% percentile for weight. So when she turned 4 we got the Regent (much to my husband's dismay at having to buy yet another car seat). I have no idea what 65lb kids are sitting in the Marathon, as my daughter at 44lbs couldn't fit well. As I stated, we are using this for my son, but lately I have discovered that the buckle by his crotch comes undone while I am driving. He isn't trying to unlock it (as my daughter would tell me if he was), but just yesterday I was driving on the expressway and he cried out that his "belt broke". Needless to say I was very nervous until I could safely pull into an oasis to buckle him back in. I was hoping this would be the last car seat I needed to buy, but now it looks like I may have to buy something else!

Impressed so far!

I'm definitely pleased with the Britax Marathon carseat! Overall it was easy to install (rear-facing in center position in Honda CRV), although finding where to anchor the tether was a bit of a mystery at first. With the tether in place, though, this seat isn't going anywhere! I love the soft, cushy cover, the soft guard around the crotch buckle, and the "hugs system" on the shoulder belt makes it easier to cinch my baby in. I did remove the shoulder pads that velcro around the shoulder straps because they caused the straps to twist everytime, which was very annoying. It is an expensive carseat, but I feel it was worth every penny. The seat is stable, secure, sturdy, and I feel confident that my 9-month-old is riding safely. I also know that she'll be able to stay in this seat for a few years to come. A great seat and a great buying experience at elitecarseats.com.

The first carseat I had for my son didn't fit in my car very well or my mom's van, I didn't like it at all. My son who was 9 months when we got his new COW car seat. He loves it because he can now see out of the windows and sits up more. I wish I would just got it from the the very start of it all. I love it.

seat belt too short?

My daughter has had her Marathon car seat for approx 4 years. I just moved the seat belt up to the highest slot in the back and now its really too tight on her. Of course, I have pulled the belt out as far as it can go, but its still too tight. My daughter is only 40 lbs., far under the 65 lb.max.Has anyone else experienced this ? any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tracie!
The only thing I may be able to recommend is to make sure that all the slack in the harness system is out from behind the seat. Make sure to tighten the harness completely after changing the shoulder strap height and then loosen from the front as needed to adjust for your child. Other than that, I really don't have any other possible solutions. If you are still having problems, feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email.
I hope that helps!
Thank you,

Well Worth the Price!!

I purchased this seat for my daughter about a year and a half ago when she was just over one year. After much research, this one seemed to be the best! It fits great in my Maxima with plenty of room for 2 additional passengers in the back seat (I often have my nieces and nephew). My daughter loves that she sits up high. The only issue that I have is that the buckle between her legs is not adjustable and it seems to be getting tight the older that she gets, which makes her fussy. I am getting ready to move this one to my husbands truck and purchase the Boulevard for the side impact since we are in my car about 90% of the time. As for the price, it comes out to be about $25.00 per month for a year... The price of one dinner out (in some places!!)

I have three of these.

We have three of these and really like them. The police officer who inspected our installation called Britax carseats "the Cadillac of carseats." They are easy to use, and I like that they will grow with our kids for the next few years.

Very safe!

This car seat is extremely safe. Not only is this car seat safe, it is super cute and soft! My Baby loves the comfort it provides over his Chico travel system seat. He used to cry like crazy in his old seat, now there is no crying! If you can afford this car seat than you should buy it...it's worth every penny. Britax makes quality products! You may want to purchase this car seat from elitecarseats.com, I did and our car seat was shipped FAST! It was very easy to install as well.

I like the variety of seat covers. I have gotten lots of compliments on mine with the Butterflys. I really like the material. Its like very soft cordaroy. The seat is plush and comfy. I love that it is washable. It is a solidly made seat. I feel my baby is safe. It was easy to install once I figured everything out. The belt straps get twisted somtimes and it does not have side impact protection or I would give it 5 stars.
Overall I am happy with it.

We purchased the Britax Marathon for our 9 month old son. I love that it has a high rear facing limit and 65 lb forward facing limit. These look nice even after being used a while. Our older daughter has a marathon as well. We love the mossy oak pattern. My husband is a hunter and it was neat to be able to let our son have a "hunting" carseat. It fits great in our club cab Sierra pickup, in the center, rear facing. It also fits rear facing in the center of our Grand Prix. There is even room for my daughter's booster seat next to it.
