Reviews for Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30 infant car seat
Its All About Safety

This car seat holds upto a 30 inch or 30 lb baby, therefore logic will tell you that this is going to be a big infant car seat / carrier. My son has always been in the 95% and he was in it until he was 13months old. When you buy a car seat, its about the safety and comfort of your infant, not of you. This carseat's fabric is great, we live in Miami and this car seat isn't any warmer then the others but does look very luxurious and very plush, without being made of velvet or microsuede which is very warm. Not the easiest to strap in but combined with the Peg Perego Pliko 3 its great. Plus if you read the description it tells you how much the seat weighs, so you can't complain about it. Most infant car seat only go upto 22 lbs, so they are smaller and weigh less and you outgrow it sooner.

Heavy and huge!

Title says it all - this thing is extremely heavy and bulky. Forget about it if you have a smaller sedan - it only fits well into a SUV or minivan (I have a 3-series BMW and it doesn't fit).
It gets an A+ for looks, but a C- for utility.

Heavy & Sweaty

I have been using this seat for almost 3 months and am now shopping for a new one. This seat is WAY to heavy and bulky! My son is only 13lbs, I can't imagine trying to carry him in it when he is at or around 30lbs! My other complaint is how much he sweats in it. He is soaked after 10 minutes... To the point he seems to dislike car rides because he's so uncomfortable.
On the plus side, this car seat is very attractive, I have had numerous compliments. = 1 star
Safety = 2 stars

Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP infant Seat - Great!

We loved ours. Easy to strap the baby in and worked well with bases we had in each car. I didn't notice the weight, but I am male. We also purchased the Peg Perego Pliko 3 which was a life saver. I could take the baby out of the car and drop it into the stroller without having to wake them up and get my grocery shopping done. It was a sad day when baby outgrew the infant carrier.

elegant!

The limited edition 'Paloma' cars seat was very impressive. It does appear substantially larger than the regular Primo Viaggio (which I previously owned and LOVED), however it really was no different for me to carry around and transport. I loved the ivory leather accents rather than the fabric. I was also very impressed with the additional side impact support offered. I will definitely need a snuzzler until my newborn grows a little, but it is worth it because my babies are very large and chubby...the smaller version of the car seat was too cramped and caused them to sweat. This one has a very light support around the baby that breathes much more than the older models did. Great seat! Worth the extra $.

The perfect infant seat!

I purchased this seat for our second child, replacing an out-of-date Graco Snugride. I could not be more pleased with this product. It combines the best advances in safety with a stylish design. My newborn sleeps the whole time she is in it. The latch base is very easy to install, with push-button release latch connectors similar to Britax, and has an adjustable "foot" attachemnt for leveling, so no more rolled towels or pool noodles are necessary. I also like that the leveler is built into the base instead of the seat, so you know the seat will be positioned right on the first try. The five position strap height adjuster means that it fits her just right even as a newborn. Another major factor in my decision to buy this seat was the side impact protection, a feature I have not seen on other seats. The carrier snaps in and out of the base easily. I am very happy and would definitely purchase this product again.

Okay, but maybe look elsewhere

First of all, it would get 5 stars for the saftey rating. Great saftey features! However, my biggest issue was how straight up it sat when installed in the base. My son's head would always fall down or to one side. When installed in the stroller, you can choose to have it sitting upright or in more of a reclined position, which is nice. I went through MANY head supports trying to find one that would support his head. The only one that would work was the pads that went over the straps themselves. There is no room for pads that go completely around the head due to the side impact pads. The system is heavy, especially if you have a "big boy" like I do (18.5 lbs at 3.5 months) The carrier is not as easy to carry as the handles that are curved. I have to carry this seat in front of me in the crease of my elbow, and I am 5'6". My mom (5' ) cannot hardly carry at all. The bases are nice, pricy but worth it! Just pop out of one vehicle into the other. The travel system is great. Overall, I would buy again, but hopefully they will make some adjustments, such as a little more of a recline feature.

Bulky and heavy

PROS: This is a safe, attractive and easy-to use car seat. Only Graco and Chicco had comparable safety ratings (based on the flawed, but more rigourous, 2007 Consumer Reports testing), but it's way more stylish than any Graco car seat. It's easy to install, and the height of the shoulder straps is easy to adjust.
CONS: It's heavy, bulky, too wide to fit into an overturned wooden restaurant high chair, has a tiny sun shade, and is more expensive than Graco or Chicco. It's a tight squeeze through the backseat doorway of most cars when the handle is in the carry position. Also, the seat in front of it must be adjusted pretty far forward for it to fit. (We know because we took it with us car shopping.)
Overall, I'd recommend this car seat if you have a big checkbook, big muscles, a big car and a need for style. Otherwise, I'd go with Chicco (especially since they now have a keyfit 30 that goes up to 30 lbs.) or Graco (now that they've introduced some less objectionable fabric patterns).

Excellent

I've been using the Primo Viaggio SIP seat for 10 months now, and my daughter loves it! She falls asleep easily, likes sitting in it when we are in the car or in her stroller. I feel she is very safe in it, and it attaches very easily to the Pliko P3 stroller. I've used it on the airplane and it fits very well, easy to install and great to be able to use it without the base. I would buy another one without a doubt.
