I have had this booster seat for over a month I exchanged it for another booster I had which slid around. The Safeguard has been great it is secure in my seat and 5 point harness gives me a releif for the safty of my child. My 4 year old son also likes he doesn't complain about anything about this seat. Its is very easy to strap him in. Overall this is an awesome booster seat i'm glad my husband did the research that he did and found this seat.

Perfect car seat!

This seat is perfect for us. We live in NYC and don't have a car, so having a portable seat is ideal. It's easy to install and feels very secure. My son loves it too. Plus the people at Safeguard are very helpful.

Fabulous!!!

We were in a single car accident with our first car seat of a different brand (car totaled) and were taking no chances on safety for our new seat. We are so thrilled with this seat. The ease of installation, fabulous! Also, my son (now 3yrs old 38lbs and tall)loves his seat, sleeps much better in this seat than the previous brand. My favorite part is the 5pt harness is so easy to use, never gets stuck, not hard to maneuver when adjusting for a thicker clothing. Absolutely thrilled. Finally, the peace of mind knowing it's superior ratings with the Department of Motor Vehicles is more than enough for us... the rest is icing! Good Luck! Happy Shopping!

The perfect

I was insistent that the next car seat for my 5 year old have a 5-point harness after hearing some horror stories about putting kids in a booster too soon. This "hybrid" seat is perfect. The fact that it's so compact was a big bonus with our Mercedes ML. (We bought the same seat for a Chevy Suburban also!) It's a very well engineered seat overall without adding too many gadgets or extra padding. It's so much easier to buckle my 5 year old in this seat when she's wearing a winter coat.
Note: Make sure your car has Latch system PLUS rear tethers (sometimes hidden at the very bottom of seat back.)

Great Seat

I am the mother of 2 1/2 year old twins and these seats have made life quite a bit easier. I actually own a 2007 version and the 2008 version. The improvements on the 08 are pretty good but I'm not sure they are worth passing up a great deal on a 2007.
PROS:
-Light weight & great for travel.
-easy to install and uninstall
-08 pillow is much bigger and attached
-Able to recline seat 30 degrees with the 08 version.
-Sits low on the seat so kids can climb in & out on their own
-5 point harness until 60lbs
CONS:
-leg straps sit about mid-thigh. The 08 version has three slots for the middle buckle but I don't find that it makes a difference. I wish the first slot was closer to the child but it seems like they left the first slot in the same spot and added two behind it (away from the child).
-Child slumps forward when asleep...reclining the seat really helps with this.
-Tightening straps (over legs) are kind of long and my kids love to play with them.
I drive a 2004 Tahoe and the seats work well in it. I did have to work a little to get the base of the seat really tight. We traveled in a Crown Victoria recently and they were extremely easy to install in that car. Overall, I would highly recommend this seat esp. if you travel or move your carseats frequently. My girls love their "new" seats.

Great seat!

Purchased two for our new SUV... one for our 5 year old and one for our 2 1/2 year old. Everything the company represents is true. Only complaint is the inability to have the seat recline so it is more comfortable when sleeping. Nevertheless, I would rather have them a little uncomfortable when sleeping than unsafe when driving. Buy it!

PERFECT!

Our daughter is 2 years 8 months. She's 3'2" and 40lbs. She is very tall for her age as you can see. I have been researching car seats (Thank you Elite Car seats for a great site) for about a month to ensure the best car seat for our needs. My husband drives an 04 Explore Eddie Bauer edition. I drive an 05 Explorer XLT. I have tried all car seats from the most expensive (Britax Regent) to the not so expensive(Safety 1st Vantage). The Britax was so big that she would not have any leg room in our trucks. The Safety 1st Vantage fit ok, but not as good as I would like. The deciding factor not to use this seat is the harness only goes to 40 pounds. I wanted something that would take her to at least 65. I purchased the Safeguard Go from a local retailer because we needed a car seat fast. She was already over the height and weight limit on our Even Flo Titan 5. It took me about 2 minutes to get this installed and that's only because I was checking and rechecking to make sure I had it in correctly. The top is tight and doesn't move. The seat part moves a little but according to the instructions it's ok that it moves an inch side to side. The seat fits great in our trucks and Reagan loves it. She can still see and now can reach her toys that fall to the side of her car seat. She no longer can kick the back of the passenger seat (major plus). I don't know about the sleeping disadvantages because we we don't take long trips in our vehicles and we try not to let her sleep in the car. I do agree that the straps hanging on the side are a little annoying, but not to the point of returning. I do like that I get to adjust very easily her straps. This accomodates our changing weather. Heavy coats for a couple of days and a sweatshirt the next. The seat is also perfect because of the height limit (53") as well as the weight limit (60lbs) on the 5 point harness. She is as tall as most 4 year olds so these measurements are perfect for us.

Perfect Size for My Small Car
Reviewer: Anonymous , Long Beach, CA

My 2 year old would kick the back of my seat constantly from her original car seat (a Britax Regent which is huge!). I bought this car seat due to its small size and yet I have confidence in the manufacturer and my vehicle itself (a Saab wagon) to provide safety. This car seat fit the bill. The profile is small enough that my daughter can no longer kick the back of my seat! If you have a larger car, the Regent is great, but it is way too huge for smaller cars.

Doens't work in a 2007 Chevy Colorado Ext. Cab
Reviewer: Linda Collins , Rogersville, Mo.

When I first purchased the safegaurd go, I was very impressed. It secured very nicely in my 2001 Chevy Blazer even though it only has the top tether. What upset me was that I checked on safeguardgo.com the vehicle compatibility to make sure the 5-point-harness would fit in all the vehicles I needed it to. The website said the 5-point-harness would fit any vehicle 2003 or newer. My father's vehicle is a 2007 Chevy Colorado Ext. Cab and my 3 year old son rides in it quite a bit. I bought the safegaurd go because his backseat is very small and my son's current carseat left him with very little leg room. I thought the safeguard go would be a perfect solution. It's small but would keep my son in a 5-point-harness as long as possible. I was very disappointed when I went to install it in my dad's pickup. His top tether is located in the center of his pickup and the tether strap must be thread through a loop at the top of the seat. The buckle that allows you to tighten the top strap on the SafeGaurd Go seat will not fit through that strap, so you cannot get the top strap tight at all.
I really like how this carseat fits in MY vehicle but I am still considering returning it.
I suggest, if you are considering purchasing this seat, you make sure your vehicles' top tether is located directly behind the seat.
