So far, so good!

After a long wait, I finally received the seat (in Blush). My expectations were not too high after reading some of the reviews posted on other websites but good enough to convince me to buy one. I did purchase the additional return shipping insurance just in case. My daughter who is 9 months old, 18 pounds loves the seat. She is very comfortable in it and its definitely much roomier than the infant car seat she was previously in (Chicco Key Fit). The seat cover does not smell as claimed by others. I love the adjustable SIP. The straps do twist but easily fixed. The only problem I had with this seat is the installation. I installed the seat (rear-facing) on 2002 Honda Accord and it was a pain. It took me a good 2 hours to ensure the seat was correctly installed. I did not like the idea of putting a rolled towel, under the seat to level it. For $300.00, the seat should have an adjustable bottom to accommodate various vehicle seats. I also installed the seat on Lexus IS300 and it was just as hard. Definitely not made for a compact vehicle with bucket seats. Overall, the seat is great, with the exception of the installation. Hopefully, it is isn't too difficult to install it forward-facing. Would I buy another one? Probably not unless they install an adjustable bottom.

I really like this seat. I have a Boulevard but needed a 2nd carseat for our other car. I went for Recaro and am very happy. My only complaint is that the straps don't have the velcro on the outside to keep them attached to the seat when putting the child in. This is a nice feature that all the Britax's have.

Not only does my 8 month old daughter love to sleep in the car, She loves her new Recaro Car seat! This was such an easy transition from her Infant car seat. She didnt like being in that too much. But once she see's her seat in the car and knows were going somewhere she gets all giddy and happy. The seat is VERY easy to install. But i do recommend NOT using it in a compact little car (like my cavalier), Its much easier to install in an SUV or Van. I Wish they made this seat for adults!!! I would so use one.

After waiting 3 1/2 months for this seat, it is not really worth the wait. Ours needed 3 swimming pool noodles under the signo to fit properly RF for my 25 lb. 12 mo. old (2007 Honda Odyssey middle row bucket seat)...and YES we had a carseat tech. install it. My son will definately not be able to sit RF up to the advertised 35lbs, due to the fact that his legs are just about straight into the carseat back (and too short to go over the sides of the signo). The biggest pain is that the harness Straps twist VERY easily. The twist from down by his legs, all the way up to his shoulders under the velcro pads and in and out of both the chest clip and the harness buckles. It is a PAIN to constantly have to flatten the straps out to get a tight fit, EVERYTIME he gets in the seat. For shuch a hyped up seat, this is not what I was expecting. We are keeping the seat, because adjusting the height is easy and I really like the padding around his head. Hopefully we will get a few good years out of it...despite the twisty straps.

I had been doing research on replacing our existing carseats for over 6 months. I ended up purchasing these seats for my 4 year old son and 3 year old daughter because I wanted to protect my most valuable assets, my children. This seat has almost everything I was looking for. My son since he was a baby hated being in his carseat, but with the plush cushions of the Recaro, he hasn't complained a bit. Its best feature is that the 5-pt harness has a max weight capacity of 70 lbs (the Kyle David Miller Foundation highly recommends 5-point harnesses). The only problem I have run into is that the latch buckle attachment is a little bigger than other seats and my husband is trying to figure a way to make it work in our Suburban. Right now he installed them using the existing seatbelts. The other thing Recaro could do to make this carseat even better is to have some kind of velcro or something to hold back the straps when the kids are not in them so that when the kids do slide into the seats, the straps don't end up underneath them. But that is a small thing when compared to the immense relief of knowing my kids are surrounded by an extremely well protective carseat. The other nice plus for me is that my son could unbuckle himself from his other carseat. This posed a huge safety issue because sometimes he'd unbuckled himself while I was driving. With the Signo carseat, it is easy enough for him to buckle himself in, but too difficult for him to press the release button to unbuckle himself out. I want to thank customer service. I called and left a message and they called me right back. They answered all of my questions and were very knowledgeable and pleasant. Like I stated, I'd been researching carseats for 6 months at least and some of the information that I'd found was misleading. I would definitely recommend that anyone who has questions call because these people really know what they are talking about. I'm so glad that I purchased these seats and now I won't have to worry about buying another carseat again.

I purchased this seat for my 3 year old son who was going to outgrow the 5 point restraints of his Recaro Youngsport (younger brother now has this seat!). I love it. I so wish this seat came out 2 years ago - because I would then have 2 of them. Typical Recaro - easy to install, less bulky than other seats and the fabulous side impact protection in a wonderfully comfortable seat. Previously I have been a huge Britax fan but the side impact protection is something I thought was very important in the safety of my boys. Trully I don't have a single complaint... great seat for newborn through childhood.

Not very happy

VERY disappointed with this seat, especially after waiting over 3 months from order date to get it. Customer service was very helpful with my order, but I am disappointed with the seat. The first seat I received was damaged. When trying to adjust the height knobs on the side, nothing happened except a clicking noise. Now, with the second seat, I am having a really hard time getting the harness tight enough when my son is sitting in the seat. It may be due to the fact that the harness staps that go around his legs do not stay flat, they twist and fold? So I have to stop pulling on the harness tightening strap to flatten out the leg straps. Also, I thought since this seat looks bigger than the Maxicosi Priori he was in, my son would have more leg room RF (he is 12 mo, 26 lbs and I would like to keep him RF as long as possible). However, his legs are even more jammed into the front of the back seat than they were before (we have an 07 Honda Odyssey; middle row bucket seat). His legs are too short to go over the sides of the seat, and I can picture that if we were rear ended, both legs would break because of how they fit. I am tempted to turn him FF, to prevent this, even though I know he should be RF for the max. amount of time (I have NO idea how a 35lb baby could fit RF in this seat.) For a seat this price, I was expecting a way better product.

Comments from The Staff:

I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your RECARO Signo purchase. I have expressed your concerns to the manufacturer. They are working to solve the twisting straps issue. The material was chosen for it's comfort but they are considering changing to something a little courser in the future that shouldn't twist. Thank you for your feedback.
