different in a good way

Reviewer: adriana , yuma, az Date: November 26, 2007
I fell in love with the euro maxi cosi brand but was informed that i cant use the seats in the US. so i was really happy when maxi cosi came out with a us version. the seat is still really attractive however the colors are a lot different the the euro version, kind of dulled down. which can be a good thing. euro version is really bright like highlighter bright, the us version is exactly the color on the picture. kind of lime, with brown (not black!). i like it so far however i did not use it yet since the baby wont come for another month. i will be buying the zapp to go with the seat.

Frustrating experience

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Eastham, MA Date: November 17, 2007
I found the Maxi cosi car seat a frustrating and somewhat unsafe car seat. The bottom buckle is very stiff and so hard to buckle I found myself tempted to leave it undone. Once buckled, it is equally hard to unbuckle, making swift & smooth exits from the car seat impossible. It does not snap into the base with ease and is jarring to the baby, once it snaps in. The sun canopy is by far too short and ineffective in blocking bright light. This is especially frustrating while using the car seat with the Quinny stroller. It does snap into stroller base with some ease. However, getting it out of the stroller base is a difficult and less than graceful experience. I am no longer using this car seat after only 2 months of use. Pro's; nice looking and is lighter weight.

Comments from The Staff:

Hi Jane,
I am SO sorry to hear about your frustration with the Mico infant seat. Infant seats generally have a short lifespan - but 2 months?!?! I'm SO sorry! I wanted to make sure you knew about our No Worries Returns & Exchanges Policy in case you feel a return or exchange is necessary.
Also, I wanted to point out that if something good were to be taken from your experience, it's that I have shared your feedback with my contact at Maxi-Cosi and they will look into the concerns and issues mentioned.
We appreciate you taking the time to submit the review and hope that Maxi-Cosi is able to make any needed adjustments to make the seat easier to use. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

Thank you,
Kelly

Buy it for looks, not function

Reviewer: Tiffany Rawson , Bountiful, Utah Date: October 23, 2007
This car seat looks great, and I get a ton of comments on it, because it is unique from a lot of other car seats out there with its vivid color selection. I have enjoyed my carseat, but have also been displeased with some of the funtions of this particular car seat. There are three things that have really been a pain. First the straps have twisted on me a handful of times so far, and when you have a crying baby the last thing you want to deal with is a carseat that won't function! Secondly is the fact that you have to totally fumble around with the buckle for it to actually snap in! And Lastly the way that this base snaps in and out of the car is really inconvenient. You first have to push up the tab with your fingers then pull the tab out and lift the carseat all at once! I love how it fits with the Quinny stroller, and I love the looks, I just with the mechanics were better.

First I have to clarify that the Maxi Cosi Mico is compatible with the Bugaboo. There are adapters that you can buy that will fit the Mico. I also contacted Maxi Cosi and they told me the Mico is not compatible, I think it is just a ploy to buy their stroller. I contacted Bugaboo and they have adapters for the Mico, I was able to find the adpaters locally. The seat is great. Light weight and very easy to install. The seat just snaps right into the base with such ease. Love the overall look of the Mico.

wrong picture

Reviewer: Sam , Chicago, IL Date: July 30, 2007
Agree with A. from Orlando Florida. What I don't understand is that they didn't update the picture yet and that when you call Elitcarseats that they tell me the seat which is presented is the seat you are going to get!. Huh? I also just got confirmation from Maxi-cosi USA that this is not true...So yes, looks like an OK seat but misses all the style of the Cabriofix from Europe. Also I wander if this seat has the same recline at the european version as the americans tend to put the baby to much upright which is not so ergonomic for the baby.

Comments from The Staff:

Sam, Thank you for your feedback, but there are some inaccuracies in your statement. The image of the Mico has been updated since the writing of your review. Also, the Maxi-Cosi Mico meets all US safety standards - both NHTSA and FMVSS 213. Certain changes had to be made in the transition between the European and US versions, but the seat remains fundamentally the same. We're not sure of the European guidlines for seat recline, but if there is a difference between the US and European versions it is because the Mico has to comply with all US Safety Standards.

Love the Cabrio

Reviewer: Anonymous , Kilgore, TX Date: July 27, 2007
I have a Cabrio that I am still using with my 9 month old. I was disappointed when I saw the weight limit on the Mico. It does not last as long as the Cabrio. The Cabrio is a great seat and I am glad to see Maxi Cosi seats in the U.S.
