Swivel or Fixed Wheel

5
Reviewer: Christopher Sofis , San Francisco, CA Date: June 26, 2006
The choice of a BOB over any other brand was an easy decision. The choice of fixed wheel verses revolution was one which no one discussed. With the revolution in the fixed wheel position it offers the same performance as the traditional jogging models. You do not notice that the front wheel is slightly smaller and the parking brake is much more appealing on the revolution. However, with the front wheel in revolution mode the stroller is more maneuveralble than any other stroller. Some unexpected suprises from owning such a unique stroller are the number of people that engage in conversation with us as well as people remembering us upon returning to a location. The stroller doubles as a fantastic grocery caddie. It also maneuvers perfectly when an additional small child sits above the front wheel to tag along. We have also purchased a small umbrella stroller for use around airports and small bistros, but preffer using our BOB revolution on a day to day basis. Thank you very much BOB Trailers!

BOB Plays In Peoria

This is our second Bob Stroller. The first was a fixed front wheel jogger, now several years old but still used. My wife liked the ride the fixed wheel Bob provided to our son but wanted something more manueverable for our second. We looked at many models but came back to the Bob due to excellent experience with our first. There's many great features, like the quick and easy brake, flip it on or off with your toe; the simple fold-up design is great, wheels lock on with a cam action like a bicycle wheel, which is super easy; the sun shade/rain cover provides great coverage; and the storage behind the seat and compartment below allow you to carry a lot. I was confused by Bob's marketing of the Fitness stroller and the Revolution, they seem to be very similar, except the Stride Fitness offers the Strdes membership, fitness exercise bands, but most important is the storage tray with zippered pocket and cup holder. The warning label on the zippered pocket is bum as it catchs in the zipper's path. I was able to find the Stride and Revolution for equal price, so we went with the Strides Fitness Stroller. The design of the front (gooseneck between front wheel and seat) allows our three year old someplace to sit down when he gets tired of walking too. The larger tires, as compared to a traditional stroller, provides a better ride and it allow for better "off-road"/sidewalk manuevering. I have not tried to jog with this one like our fix wheel stroller and question how the king pin on the steering wheel would hold up if used for extensive jogging but occassional use would probably be ok. This is a classic example of you get what you pay for, its more expensive but worth it.

Great Stroller

The BOB Stroller Strides stroller is great. I have had people stop me and ask about it, I let them take it for a try on the spot. A great investment.

I love my BOB

Fantastic stroller-I did lots of research and am thrilled with the BOB. It's light, easy to open and close, and the adaptor for an infant car seat works well. Only complaint is the bottom storage area-it is difficult to get things in and out.

Very smooth ride

This is my second child and fifth stroller. I wish I had bought this one the first time out. The others have been gathering dust since we got this. It is the smoothest, easiest to push stroller ever. The swivelling front wheel really helps with maneuverability in stores. The only thing that needs improvement is the folding process. It is still big and cumbersome when folded, even for a station wagon trunk, and hard to keep folded -- there is no mechanism to keep it folded, so unless you pick it up just right every time, you will get your fingers pinched and it is likely to come open as you take it out of the trunk. Once up, though, it is a great stroller, fast, light to push and still solid enough to bump down stairs or take a deep pothole in stride. I got the stroller strides version because it was red and I wanted a bright color (most Bobs then were dark colors), but I am not sure that I would get the Stroller Strides version again. The rainbow colored logo is a bit tacky and the stroller strides "exercise equipment" -- some rubber cables -- that came with it is still in the plastic bag months later. More recent models in orange and green will get you the cool colors without the tacky logo.

love this stroller

We live in a city that gets both heat and snow. The sidewalks are bumpy. The stores are small. And we do some heavy duty walking around so we had a pretty tall order to fill in a stroller. This is really a great stroller. It handles the bumps and the dirt really well. I love that you can lock the wheel or let it swivel. It's small enough to get through our tiny super market lines and big enough that it will work for years to come. I'm sure that this stroller will remain our favorite when the ice and snow come. And looking at other people's rusty wheels, I keep thinking that the Bob's plastic (?) wheels were a good choice. Plus, I live on the second floor and it's light enough that I'm able to carry it up our spiral staircase folded! It's really easy to fold, though I wish there were some sort of locking mechanism. There's plenty of room for stuff under the seat and my baby seems very comfy. This stroller seems to push itself. The only time I use our other (umbrella) stroller is when I'm taking the subway or bus.

Best Stroller

I have a Stroller Strides BOB Stroller and I absolutely love it! The caddie compartment that comes with it is great and perfect for water bottles or lattes. It is made of fabric, rather than a hard plastic, so it absorbs any shocks. I always spilled any drinks I had with my old jogging stroller....

Awesome Stroller, Amazing Customer Service

I cannot say enough about this stroller or about the staff at joggingstroller.com. I originally had a BOB Ironman, which is also a great stroller, but I realized that I was not actually running as much as I thought I would. So, when my Ironman was stolen, I decided to rethink my stroller purchase. I wanted a stroller with a swivel wheel so that I could use it around town, but also lock it out for jogging. I also walk a lot of gravelly paths by the water and live in the city. I loved the quality of our previous BOB, so I knew I wanted something comprable and I also loved all the storage compartments, especially the little pockets for toys in the seat area. I already had two other strollers that I wasn't crazy about and I really wanted one stroller that could do it all: jogging, hiking, walking. Well, this stoller delivers. Despite being heavier than the Ironman, it just glides; you barely have to push it. My husband and I actually argue over who is going to push. The suspension is awesome and combined with the large air filled tires, it handles rough terrain so easily. I still think that if you are a marathoner the Ironman is the way to go, but if you want a stroller that can do everything including jogging a few times a week, I don't think this stroller can be beat. And I just love the red color; not to mention how easily it folds up. I had actually ordered this stroller from another site, but after a week the stroller still hadn't even shipped yet (although the website said same day shipping guaranteed). When I called they told me it was backordered for another several weeks (and when were they going to tell me that?). I called Joggingstroller.com. They had it in stock and even matched the other companies sale price. I had the stroller in two days. The staff was also great at helping me figure out if this was the right stroller for me. It was a great expereince that makes me love the stroller even more.
