Gets mama moving!

Reviewer: Ashley , Atlanta, GA Date: April 23, 2010
We are so excited to be the proud owners of our Ironman duallie stroller! At first we were really wanting the BOB Revolution due to the front swivel wheel but turns out the fixed wheel is not a problem for us. My next big concern was that it wasn't fitting in my husband's X5. After consulting the manual I realized I was missing the second step of the folding process, and now it fits in both our cars no problem (I have a 7 passenger SUV and could fit it just fine). It runs like a dream and my kids (ages 3 & 6 months) were asleep before we even got out of the neighborhood - apparently very comfy for them. We don't have the handlebar console but with all the pockets it hasn't been a problem, though we intend to purchase one soon! I am SO proud to walk/jog with our new BOB that I find myself being more enthusiastic about fitness and that's always a positive thing. I have not tried going into stores with this stroller as I just don't think it would be a good idea. I have another stroller that is our "everyday" stroller and BOB is our "adventure" stroller. ;) Even though all BOB strollers have a steep price tag, I recommend this stroller to any parent with two small kids and an active lifestyle and would tell them it's worth every penny!!

running mama approves!

I LOVE this stroller. I picked it out when I found out I was pregnant with my second child, and I have not been dissapointed. Serious runners will enjoy this stroller. It feels incredibly lightweight when running and is a very smooth ride for the kids. The sunshade pulls down very far so baby is always shaded. We also purchased the car seat adapter/snack tray which worked great when the second baby was still little. The stroller is a bit big, doesn't fit through doorways, but that is to be expected of a wide double stroller. I think my only complaint about this stroller are the fact that the storage compartment underneath is very narrow, I can not stick a bag under there without taking half of the stuff out!

worth the money!

My husband and I were a little hesitant to spend so much on this stroller without knowing if we could get a comparable stroller for less. We didn't know if we were buying the name or what. We are thrilled with our investment. The stroller is pretty huge but isn't heavy even with my two 25-30lb kids in it. It handles great-easy to stear and push and I'm 5'3, 120. The best part to me is that the kids are seperated and have their own hoods. We love it.

Don't Buy without testing

Reviewer: Anonymous , Dublin, GA Date: April 21, 2009
I have run 5 marathons and am planning to train for another. As a mother of two young boys, I thought the Ironman would be the best training stroller. Unfortunately for me I did not test this stroller in stores and only read reviews and did the BOB online test (which stroller should I get?) I have found this stroller impossible to turn when running in neighborhoods; short of picking up the stroller and turning it, there is no other way of maneuvering it; I have found myself annoyed, frustrated and wishing that I had bought the stroller with the swivel wheel for ease of movement while running.

Better than I expected

Reviewer: Emily , Wichita, KS Date: November 28, 2008
I love this stroller. I have a 15 month old and a new born. I have taken them out in it several times and love it! It's so light and easy to push and comfortable for the kids and easy with everything we need to take along. Best $500 purchase EVER! I run marathons and triathlons and now I can keep my sanity with this double runner!

Better then expected

My wife and I had the Bob Single SUS. We had another child and needed to get a double. After looking around, we decided to stay with Bob. Then, it was just a matter of deciding between the Ironman and the SUS double. My wife said the SUS would be fine. But I persuaded her to get the Ironman. We live in the city and jog on streets and sidewalks. Well, after the using the Ironman the FIRST time we could tell it made a huge difference. It glides better then even the single SUS. The thinner wheels make a huge difference. This is simply the best I think you can get for jogging. End of story.

I picked out this stroller for Mother's Day this year. I have twin now eight month old boys, and they love riding in the "coach". It is a smooth ride for them, and easy for me to operate when running. As others have mentioned, the handlebar height is perfect (I am 5'5"). The seat recline is not the best, and the harness does not get small enough (my boys were two months premature, thus a smaller size than babies their age), but we have worked around it. I highly recommend the handlebar accessory, it is a huge help, especially for longer runs that require drinks for the little ones... It is a bit tight for everyday use (I tried it once at the mall, with a bit of difficulty), but find for running, nothing has topped it. Overall, I think out of the four strollers I own, this is the best!

Best Stroller!

Reviewer: Kristin , Atlanta, GA Date: July 28, 2008
I just receeived the BOB Ironman Duallie stroller 4 days ago and I've used it twice. I could not be more pleased with a double jogger. I know right now it says, "backordered" but I still received it in about 3 days. I searched and searched for double joggers and finally decided on this one. I had a single, Baby Trend Expedition before ($89) and although it was considered cheap, I have loved it and used it for 2 years. But, now that I am expecting #2 and am a runner, I wanted something better. Here are the things about this stroller that are invaluable to me: -the separate canopies really are a must in my opinion. They come way down and do not block the child's view at all. -my 2 yr old is very comfortable in it. He is 27 lbs and 35 inches tall and fits in it very comfortably. He still has lots of growing room. -each side has little mesh cupholders. My son has snacks and a drink along the whole way and this was a must for us. He even enjoys placing it in and out of the cupholder -It is the lightest stroller I have ever pushed! I also have a Bugaboo and the Bob Ironman Duallie feels lighter to me than that one. It is definitely lighter than my sigle Baby Trend. I am 7.5 mos preg and it feels like I am doing no work when pushing this stroller. -It folds really compactly for a double jogger and I can pick it up pretty easily, even pregnant. -there is a parking a brake and it's awesome. It is really wide and sturdy and very easy to use. Things that bother me: It does not fit through standard doorways. I think it would be fine if you needed to get it into a store, but it doesn't fit through the doorways in my house and my house is fairly new. -there is no locking mechanism when you fold it up. The owner's manual says to secure it with the wrist strap. That is kind of ridiculous to me but that is what I am doing. It's a bit inconvenient and kind of surprising considering my $89 single stroller had a locking device on it when it was folded up. -It was a bit difficult to attach the front wheel when receiving the stroller in the mail. You have to remove one screw from the frame to attach the front fender and I totally stripped the screw trying to get it out. Overall though, I think these few inconveniences are minor and the good points way out weight the bad. I think my biggest complaint is the no lock when it's folded but the light weight of it and comfort for my 2 yr old are the best. My 2 yr old slept for an hour on our first walk in it and he's never slept that long during a walk/run.

Excellent ride, but minor inconveniences

Reviewer: Emily , Ft Walton Beach, FL Date: April 29, 2008
I bought this when my 2nd born was a few weeks old (in 2006) from this site. Great, fast service and excellent customer support. But after only a year, the foam padding on the left side of my handle bar began to shred and pull apart. I've re-taped it with padded leather baseball tape, which works, but isn't the same. Also, it's huge when folded (but it does fold easily). I also have problems fitting it through the doorways (I have a 1960's standard house), though it does fit with a bit of manipulation. The color is rough to deal with, because I notice the bugs zoom in on it when we walk, especially bees (but they immediately fly away when the realize there's no honey guides or flowery smell)! My last complaint is that my daughter is only 4 but really can't fit comfortably in it anymore. She's slender, but it's the height--her head hits the top of the canopy, even when fully extended (and when it's collapsed, it's awkward). It also seems like her knees are high up in the air bc of the foot rest, which is just a thin piece of canvass that (hard to explain). So I'm donating it already, after merely a year and a half of use. B On a pure pro, this has a smooth, fluid ride for driver and kids. It handles turns well, is easy to turn and pivot, and really seems to absorb shock well. Haven't had a brake problem other than making sure I press in the button well to engage lock. And the handlebar height is excellent (I'm 5'8 and very comfy pushing this). If it weren't for those minor issues above, I'd have given it 5 stars just for its smooth ride and easy steering. But I'm not sure that's worth nearly $500. ?

Great double jogger!

Reviewer: Anonymous , Havelock, NC Date: December 03, 2007
We have the single Ironman and have loved that since day one. Just received the double Ironman as a gift and my toddler has been climbing in every day, waiting for her baby brother to be big enough to ride! She loves it, and that makes getting out and jogging much easier. The best features are the hammock like seat, making it very comfortable for the child, and the HUGE sun canopy that actually covers the children when you're outside! I'm 5'7, and my husband is 6'4, and we can both push it comfortably. The shocks are great, it pushes easily and folds down about as small as possible for a double stroller.

Great for a Serious Runner

5
Reviewer: Veronica Crim , San Clemente, CA Date: November 26, 2007
I previously owned the Bob Sports Utilty D'Lux Single after my first child. Having my second and getting more serious about running, I borrowed my neighbors older Ironman Duallie model. I liked it and opted to purchase the Ironman instead of the Sport Utility Duallie since I primarily do road running. Its great to have the added features of the foot break and deeper inclince, both which my single Bob stoller and my neighbor's Ironman Duallie did not have. I run with the kids 2-3 times a week and love how it handles. I would highly recommend it for serious runners of multiple children.

Do not purchase based off of Online reviews

Reviewer: Anonymous , Harrisburg, PA Date: October 03, 2007

I have had a Instep 10K stroller which we loved but it was starting to get old and when we had twins we decided to get a new Jogging stroller. After Reading many online reviews we decided to get the BOB Ironman Duallie. Don't make our mistake and look at it before you buy it. There is an issue with the front Break (It does not hold) It also lacks a rear locking break and when putting my twins in and out it rolls away if you do not have a second person to hold it. I have contact Bob twice about this issue with no response. It also is not truly a functional stroller for running, it lacks the stability that others offer, however it is fine for walks on rough surfaces. It does fold easily, but when folded there are no locks to keep it in a folded position. It also is not as compact as other models and does not fold as flat for transportation and storage as other models. The rear shock on it does work fine, but having properly inflated tires also helps. Have not seen the benefit to the shock adjustment? Make sure you look at several strollers and don't purchase based off of online reviews. There are a lot of less expensive strollers which are more comfortable for the child, more functional, lighter and COST LESS.

Comments from the Staff

Dear L, Thank you for the feedback.
We took note of your review, and would like to clear up a few inaccuracies. The Ironman Duallie is a running stroller that DOES have both a rear parking break and a means of locking the stroller frame together when folded. We contacted BOB regarding your concerns and here was their response:

When purchasing a new product, it is important to educate yourself on the features and functions by reading your manual. Additional information can be garnered from other sources, including Joggingstroller.com.
All BOB strollers are running strollers. The Ironman was specifically designed for the performance athlete, and is used by many professional runners and triathletes, both during training and racing. BOB strollers meet or exceed all ASTM and Health Canada testing requirements, including specific stability testing.
The 2007 Ironman Duallie has a rear wheel, foot activated, parking brake. If you have a 2006 stroller the hand brake serves as your parking brake. In either case, the safety wrist strap should always be used to ensure that the stroller does not roll away from you. If your brake is not functioning properly, please see item 7 in your manual or contact BOB customer service (800-893-2447) for adjustment instructions.

Also, all BOB strollers lock in the folded position using the safety leash. Please see item 14 in the manual of your BOB Ironman Duallie will inform you of the locking mechanism. BOB strollers have 3" of adjustable suspension. By selecting either the first or second position it is possible to achieve optimum performance based on the weight of your children, your speed, and the terrain you will be traveling. It is recommended that you always have the tires properly inflated.

Humvee of Strollers

Reviewer: Joe Caruso , Newport, RI Date: July 11, 2007
Over all we are extremely happy with the BOB Ironman Dualie stroller. The stroller arrived in 3-4 days after placing the order. The stroller did arrive slightly damaged (tear in canvass on canopy)but the people at Joggingstroller.com were extremely helpful with reimbursment. If you own an old house be aware that the stroller will not fit through most doors unless you collapse it. I found that the stroller is easily collapsable but is still tough for my wife to move down a small flight of basement stairs (old house). I ordered the infant car seat attachment which was easy to install when the direction were followed. We took our infant for walks when he was a week old. Our two year old son fits perfectly. The infant is still to young to actually jog with the stroller but walking with it is a breeze. The stroller is easy to manuever and is a breeze to push. We live in Newport, RI and some streets are cobblestone but the stroller handles the bumbs very well. I cannot wait to log some serious miles because I also need to lose my baby weight. We found the storage to sufficient even with an infant on a two hour walk. We were a little reluctant about the cost but the BOB IRonman dualie is well worth the money. The money is a small price to pay for your sanity of being able to take a two year old and an infant out for two hour walks safely & securely. Call me with any questions (401) 847-8214

So dissapointed

Reviewer: Katie Pitts , Willington, CT Date: April 23, 2007
I did so much research on this stroller while I was pregnant with my second daughter. I ordered it over the winter during a great sale. Since I could not run during the winter I was so excited to run with both kids when it actually warmed up enough for them to be outside. Before I could even run I noticed that both tires were flat! BOB sent me two new tubes, which was nice, but since I am mechanically iliterate I have to bring to a bike shop to get them changed. When I got the stroller into the back of my van I noticed the handlebar cushion was completely split. BOB is going to send me a new handlebar. I will have to bring the stroller to a bike shop (again) to get this replaced. I COULD not wait to take my kids on a nice long run with me but there have been two things wrong with the stroller before it even hits pavement. My single stroller has over 1200 miles logged on it and has never had one problem. I thought BOB was supposed to be top of the line!??!?!!? The customer service has been accomodating but I am wondering what the next issue is going to be!!! I am so dissapointed!!!!!!!!!

Comments from The Staff:

Hi there! That is very unfortunate that you are having issues with your BOB. BOB has very low warranty rates, and they do stand behind their product 100%, so I am glad that they were able to help you out with replacement parts! I am confident that once you get out on the road that the stroller will be worth it! If you have anymore problems, feel free to contact us at info@JoggingStroller.com. Happy running!

Great stroller!

My husband and I are long-distance walkers (90 minutes plus on the weekends) and intermittent joggers. We have a 3 1/2 year old and an 8 month old. Our older child is tall for her age. Both children happily and comfortably last through all of our road marches. My daughter still has plenty of room to grow. The ride is smooth and they both often end up falling asleep. There is an 8 inch height difference between me and my husband, but we both comfortably use the stroller for both walking and jogging while pushing a combined 60 pounds of kid. There is plenty of storage underneath and in the mesh behind the seats. The canopy is very generous as far as sun protection and the see-through window on top is great for monitoring the interaction (toy stealing) between the kids. Each child seat also has two mesh cup holders for self-serve sippy cups and snacks. The generous size of the stroller prohibits its use as a shopping/all-purpose stroller, but if you want to be able to get in a good long workout, the comfort of this stroller for the passengers seems to make wiggly kids willing to sit and take in the scenery. A promise of a stop at the park also helps... We're forunate to live in an area with lots of clean trails so the stationary front wheel is not an issue. If I lived in a more urban environment with very narrow sidewalks and lots of corners this might not be the best choice, but it has been great for our situation.

Love it!

Reviewer: Herndon Hoos , Charlottesville, VA Date: March 02, 2007
I'm a runner and this stroller was given to us as a gift. I absolutely love it. It is larger than I originally expected, but is incredibly light, which (to me) makes the size a very minor issue. It really is perfect for the kids (very comfy) and great for Charlottesville (VA) hilly runs. In my opinion, the only less than ideal thing about this stroller is that it doesn't fit easily through our doors getting in and out of the house. BUT it's very easy to collape-- so it just took me a few frustrating, hurried moments to figure out that I need to plan a little ahead and get the stroller outside before loading the kids. :-) That aside, I highly recommend this stroller for runners.

Comments from The Staff:

BOB made an adjustment to the design of their strollers after 2005, so they should fit through standard doorways. If you have a very narrow space, you might have an issue, but to my knowledge, you should be good through standard sized doorways, which I believe are generally about 32".

Love, love my Bob Dualie

Reviewer: Anonymous , Houston Date: March 02, 2007
We are really enjoying our walks these days! My 8 m.o and 4 y.o both ride comfortably. The seats and straps are easy to adjust and what I like the most is the separate canopies, again fully adjustable and, more importantly, will completely shield the sun from their eyes, if necessary! This stroller is a cinch to push. I thought that not having a swivel wheel would make things tedious, but the stroller is incredibly easy to maneuver given its sturdiness. Great tires and great shocks make going over uneven roads a pleasure. My husband and I are both comfortable pushing the stroller and he's 6"2, I'm 5"4. I can't say enough positive things about it. My only negatives about it would be that the storage area under the seats is narrow and wouldn't hold much, but since we just use the stroller for fast walking, I don't carry much with me, anyway. The other complaint, I guess, would be that it would be really difficult for me to collapse the stroller and lift it into the back of my SUV. I haven't actually attempted it (I don't even know if it'd fit, to be honest, without removing the front wheel), but when you try to collapse it, the sheer weight of it makes me think that I'd definitely need help. Finally, kudos to joggingstroller.com! Best customer service, best return policy, most informative website, and competitive prices! I originally bought an InStep. It was roughly $150 less than the Bob and it definitely showed! It felt wobbly and cheap and the seats were horrible. Joggingstroller's customer service folks helped me find an alternative, listening to my preferences, and I couldn't be happier.

Not well made for the price

2
Reviewer: Anonymous , Washington, DC Date: October 27, 2006

I bought the BOB Ironman Duallie mostly on the strength of reviews on this site. I have had it for 2 months, used it probably 10 times, and it has not held up well at all.

The brake does not work as a parking brake. There is no brake on the wheels themselves; you push a button up by the hand brake. This seemed questionable to me from the first and sure enough, even on my fairly level grassy back yard, as I put my twins in the stroller it rolls backward. If it is on flat ground and you do not push it, it doesn't move, but if you push it at all, it does.

Then on a windy day I was walking my twins and my dog when one of the sun visors came loose. A nut came off the screw, I believe. It was never in danger of poking my daughter in the eye, but I am still not comfortable using it until it is fixed.

I called joggingstroller.com, from which I bought the stroller; they referred me to BOB. The BOB folks never apologized or made it seem odd that the stroller would be having such difficulties after so short a time. They tried to talk me through fixing the brake myself, but it did not work, so they advised me to take it to a bike shop. Well, with baby twins and a 3 year old that's not so easy to do! Nor did they mention sending them the invoice for the repair, but I assume I will be able to do that since it is still under warranty (but given my experience so far I'm no longer so sure). They also said they would send me the nut to fix the canopy.

Several days later, I called again to find out where my repair parts were since I wanted to use the stroller. They advised me it usually took a week to get the parts to people. Considering this is a $500 stroller that has broken within 2 months it seems like they could have moved more quickly! Again, their whole attitude was not that this was a serious problem or surprising, but just that things would (eventually) be taken care of. Well, eventually it'll be snowing here and every chance I have to run with so many small children is precious! We'll see when it gets here.

I hope this review doesn't sound like a rant but I'm very frustrated by this whole experience. I had a $100 baby trend expedition jogging stroller with my older daughter and never had any problems in over 2 years of hard use (then a tire went flat). For the price of this stroller, it should be MUCH more reliable.

Comments from the Staff: We've sold thousands of BOB strollers, and based on the many many positive reviews and testimonials we've recieved, this type of problem is rare. However, we hear your frustration. We agree that a foot brake for BOB strollers would be great, and we've expressed that to the company. They do have a parking brake on the Revolution, but not the Duallie. All strollers that use the handbrake as a parking brake typically require a bit of adjustment. A bike shop won't charge you for fixing the parking brake, since it only takes about 30 seconds to do. As for your problems with the canopy, that is certainly a first, but things happen. Based on your explanation, it seems very simple to repair . . . just replace the nut and/or bolt, which you can get at any hardware store for just cents. All that aside, you've still spent a lot of money on your BOB and expect it to be perfect, so naturally you're frustrated. We hope you can best these minor issues and enjoy the many great aspects of this stroller.

The best running stroller out there

Reviewer: Anonymous , Los Gatos, CA Date: October 08, 2006
My husband and I have had the Bob Ironman for over 2 years now and love it. It is still in great condition and has held up to all the abuse we have given it. We live in the San Francisco Bay area where there are many running trails both dirt and paved and it has never disappointed on either. The shocks work wonderfully on the bumpy dirt trails making it a very smooth ride for my daughter. It folds up REALLY nicely to fit in both our Outback and minivan. It should fit nicely in any size car actually. Also another note, the cup holder, although a cloth material IS safe for lattes and coffee. It is a very strong, durable cloth that does not sag and keeps the cup from moving. We have had the cup console as long as we have had the stroller and it has been a great addition. We now have an infant son and today we are going to buy the Ironman Duallie (can't wait!!!!!!) Another suggestion, the warm, fuzzy seat inserts add to the comfort and warmth for your child. My daughter loves it. So, our opinion is that it really is worth every penny you spend on a BOB stroller. Some may think it's a bit pricey but it WILL last you for a very long time and I do think you won't be disappointed.

A running stroller designed for runners

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , Alexandria, VA Date: September 18, 2006
I wanted a running stroller that would provide a comfortable ride for our twins and be efficient and light enough for me to go on medium and long distance training runs. The Ironman was the stroller that best fit the bill. Let's face it: there's a certain amount of discomfort to be expected when propelling your body weight plus a baby-laden stroller, especially on hilly routes. But the Ironman shines in that it pushes efficiently and steers easily. I never feel like I'm fighting it or working harder than I have to (as I did when testing similar makes and models). 15 miles into a run, that quality is priceless.

The engineers did their homework with this model: foremost, it's comfortable for the babies; it's low-weight for a twin stroller (only the TikeTech is lighter); the seats are well-padded and independently-recline; the independently-adjustable sun canopies offer impressive amounts of shade even when the sun is low on the horizon; flipping up the unadvertised 'sun flap' allows for a nice cross-breeze; the moon-roofs let you peek at the babies; the high-visibility yellow fabric and reflective strips are important safety features; the storage capacity is generous; the restraint system is well-padded and bombproof; it folds easily and can fit in the trunk of a compact car (in my case a Honda Civic sedan); the shocks are stable and adjustable; the wheels track like they're on rails; the tracking is adjustable; it eschews the usual inefficiently overbuilt and "grippy" bmx-style tires for actual road racing tires. BOB's engineers really achieved a perfect balance between weight, safety, structure, and features. When comparison shopping, I was honestly uncomfortable with the Ironman's price, but several long runs later, I know that I made the right decision. It's a beautifully-built, very efficient machine that allows you to train and enjoy running with your babies.

Worth Every Penny!

I have been using my jogger for the past month and absolutely love it. I did a lot of research before buying and originally didn't want to spend this much money but am so glad I did. I have a 4 year old (42 inches tall) and a 4 month old and needed something to work for both kids. I love the individual seats and sun shades--my older daughter can look around while the baby is protected from the sun. My daughter loves the pockets inside the seat where she can stash snacks and toys. As for me, I was nervous about pushing something this big but have found it to be very easy to manuever as well as comfortable to run with. My husband and I are tall so we love the adjustable handle. I know that we will use this jogger so much and that I will have time before my daughter outgrows it.

Easy to fold & transport or store

Reviewer: John , Sarasota, FL Date: June 27, 2006
One of our main reasons for choosing the Ironman Duallie over the others was actually the bright color. We walk and run next to very busy streets and with the insane number of distracted drivers we are concerned foremost with safety. The other reason was the aluminum wheels for beach running. Now that we have it, there are plenty of features we like. It can be collapsed a few different ways for putting in the car or garage. In almost one quick motion, I can tilt it forward on the front wheel (no kids in), fold the back wheels downward and easily lift the stroller to hang by the handle on ceiling mounted bicycle hooks. It would also hang almost flat against a wall, even with the wheels on. The wheels are easily removeable, although we've not needed to take them off. The balance is excellent, and whether it is intentional or not, the stroller can be steered somewhat without lifting the front wheel. Decent storage underneath, as well. We will certainly buy another BOB stroller from JoggingStroller.com

We live on a summer camp property. Tons of uneven dirt roads, sand, roots and bumps. Stroller handles everything with ease. My kids 6mo & 24mo love the rids.

Great Stroller

Reviewer: Anonymous , Cottonwood, AZ Date: June 25, 2006
We use our Ironman Duallie everyday and we love it. Some of our favorite features are: 1) the sun shade. It comes down so far the sun can virtually never hit our girls in the face, unless we are going up a hill toward a setting sun. 2) Comfort. Both for the parent and the children. There are at least two hand positoins I use when pushing or jogging. 3) Rugged. The frame handles off roading with ease. The stiching is also very adequete. I do have a couple of complaints, though. 1) The three production tubes and tires are incredibly thin and prone to flats, not what one would expect from a "Sports Utility Stroller." We live in an area with a lot of goat heads, and these flimsy things all went flat in the first couple weeks. After going through the following steps, this stroller finally was up to the tasks we put to it: 1) Replace these flimsy tubes with thicker ones. 16-22 inches is the range your looking for, and most bike shops have 'em. 2) Get the tubes slimed. 3) Optional. Replace the production tires with nobby mountain bikeish tires. This increases rolling resistance, making your jog more difficult, but it reduces the chance of getting a flat. We did it, and we're happy. We are pushing this stroller to extreme limits, and it's holding up nicely.

For Those Looking to Actually Jog

Reviewer: Jeff , Chicago Date: June 24, 2006
My wife and I bought a mid-tier, supposed "real" jogging stroller last year and after running with it 2-3 times a week all summer. It was just about beat. The BOB Ironman has been going strong for 2 months this summer without so much as a change from the pristine instrument that came out of the box. If someone wants a high quality, true jogger, this one is the one. Yes, it's more expensive, but it's worth every bit of premium - unless you just want a "jogger" to walk through the neighborhood and to the grocery.

We love our BOB!

We purchased our duallie primarily for jogging with our 2 boys (4 and almost 2) and have already gotten lots of mileage out of it. I previously had a single jogger INStep and though I never tried their double, I would say the quality of the BOB is much greater. The seat fabric on the other stroller wore quite quickly along the sides and it was much less padded than the BOB we purchased. Our INStep also shakes when you run fast (despite numerous repairs/reviews from our local bike shop). The Duallie is smooth at any speed. The shocks are great and it balances the load with the boys being different weights to allow easy turning both ways. We love the separate recline feature as our youngest often falls asleep, and the older enjoys looking around. It folds flat easily for storage or transport, too. I jog 3+ times/week and it is very smooth and pushes easily with one hand. We also use it for regular transport to family ball games, etc. The braking system sets easily and holds well - even on uneven ground. We couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Sturdiness and spacious.

I researched and tried a few double strollers. This one fits my son of 1 yr and my daughter of 4 yrs well. Others were too tight and short. It is also very sturdy without the weight.

The new model can't be beat

Reviewer: Anonymous , Portland, OR Date: April 27, 2006
First of all, to be fair, let it be known that I have only test-driven this stroller, and am about to buy it. The best reviews do come from those whoâ??ve had theirs a while. That said, Iâ??m a very picky, very thorough research queen, if that makes a difference!: Itâ??s YELLOW, but that also means safer. Unlike the 2005 model, this stroller has two adjustable canopies - one for each child - which many believe is a MUST when you've got two kids in there. They come down nice and low. Has independently reclining seats. The 2006 now weighs only 28.9 lbs. and it's only 30.8" wide! I called the Bob Company and was told they did not compromise the width of each child's seat but rather the frame now curves in, making it narrower. Now it will fit through many if not most doors. On the Dreamer Design (my second favorite double jogger), the width is 32" (at least on the '05 model, which is the only one available at the time I'm writing this) and the weight is 29 lbs. Also, the Bobâ??s weight is distributed slightly more toward the rear (not unlike the Dreamer), which makes it turn much more easily (than for example the new 2006 Kelty I compared it to). A truly good jogging stroller needs this. The Ironman has 16" wheels, the front one being fixed, which is essential when one's purpose is to go fast and smoothly on neighborhood sidewalks/streets - particularly if you're a true runner or jogger (which I'm not - but I like having the smoother, faster ride for fast walking and longer distances. I have a portable swivel-wheel stroller for other purposes such as errands, which I keep in the trunk). The wheels are thinner than on some 16" strollers, which also make for an easier ride/push and yet are thick enough for a lot of off-roading as well. The Dreamer Design 2005 model doesn't fold up and down as nicely and quickly as the Bob strollers, and the Dreamer's harness/seat isn't so great for taller-torso children (also, the handlebar is one inch shorter). What I love about this one is that the harness is good and soft and functional but will allow taller children to stay in it longer than the Dreamer Design. The handlebar is not adjustable but at 41" it is at a good height - tall enough for picky me (I don't like them too low) but low enough for shorter people as well. It has the adjustable suspension system which is nice because I don't like the idea of babies being bounced around too much, so I can tighten it. It has a decent-sized basket underneath (easier to reach and perhaps more storage than the Dreamer Design). I am not so happy that the kids' muddy shoes don't have something plastic or rubbery to rest on (just the fabric/material) but again, it's worth it to have a light-weight stroller with all these other features. And there is a mud guard. The rest of the stats are typical. The only thing I do NOT like about any of these real running strollers is that they never have a nice parent console/cup holder. This stroller has an optional parent console but it's the fabric kind - so not as safe for holding a hot latte. And frankly, many-a-parent will stop at her local Starbucks on a casual walk with a friend; not everyone only uses these for running and water bottles. Ah well...none of them have this - only the cheaper â??jogging strollersâ?? (really walking strollers) do. You can also purchase a universal cup holder or parent console that hopefully has a sturdier base - I think they sell them on this website in fact. And finally, yes the price is in the hefty range of $440.00 to $490.00 (ouch), but it is sure to have the best resale value out there. Hope this has helped - happy shopping!

The Best

Over the past month, my 5-month old twin girls and I have used this stroller every day. We log about 6 miles a day up and down steep hills and some dirt paths. Since my girls are twins and were born 4 weeks early, they are on the small side for 5-months, but it has not been an issue. We did purchase the Snugglies for each seat and they not only give a smaller baby a better fit, but the instant they get into our Duallie to go for a ride they fall asleep. They always wake up about halfway through our trip and smile and "talk" the rest of the way home. I am so glad that we purchased this stroller, I am just sorry that I didn't start using it sooner.

worst double

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , WA Date: January 16, 2006
I am a serious runner with two small children. I have had a dreamer design double, Kelty double, and a Bob dullie. I loved the Kelty but it broke in a month due to some recall so the store I purchased it from exchanged it for the BOB. It is horrible. I hate the shock system, the seats are short, so my tall kids do not fit well in it, and to top it all off it is falling apart. I used to love running with my kids and with this stoller I look for excuses to do it without them. It is hard to push and has not held up well to the wear ( I have had it for 6 months!) Do not buy this. Try the Baby Jogger. I am.

Comments from JoggingStroller.com: I can't help but wonder what happend for this customer? With all the great reviews we've had on this, and boom, a 1 star to throw your decision making into a whirlwind. The only thing I can think of is that maybe he didn't know the shock is adjustable allowing it to be stiffer, and thereby easier to push and turn with weight in it? Just a hunch based on what he wrote.

Am I missing something?

1
Reviewer: Summer , Kailua, Hawaii Date: December 22, 2005
I must be missing something. My husband and I decided to get this jogger after a lot of research. He is a marathoner and I use the jogger for long walks with my two infants. First of all, my poor kids bounced up and down over every bump. My 5 month old vomited from the bouncing just on a dirt path. It is totally unsafe for my 5 month old and borderline for my 10 month old. Yes, there is a 5 point harness, but the crotch strap does not tighten, so their little bottoms scoot forward with every bump. The shoulder straps (with pads) even on the tightest setting hit my 5 month old at her ears and the sternum strap was at her chin. This is not a small baby, she is 100th percentile for height and weight. All of the other reviews were so positive, I think I must be doing something wrong. I am very disappointed with this stroller.

well-designed stroller, great company

I ordered the Duallie after some agonizing over double joggers. I have a 2.5 year old and 6 month old. The 2.5 year old is huge and some joggers looked and were reviewed as being snug. We have a baby jogger single, but was determined to find something easier to break down so that i could actually take it in my car, etc. I looked at the dreamer design, urban mountain, ironman doubles. Our main goal is running, not around town, though i am going to try taking it as my only stroller for my annual family week at the beach, which includes an airport trip. I may report back on that. The shocks are great; assembly was easy; the ride is smooth. It breaks down easily and carries fairly well; it isn't much (if any) more awkward than our maclaren twin traveller. jogging stroller is an awesome company; the website did a great job of helping me narrow the field (get rid of pivoting front wheels since we want to run, etc.) And ordering and delivery were a breeze. the stroller was literally delivered the next day without any extra rush delivery charges, etc. Instant gratification! So far I am happy with the Duallie design and ride. My little one slept through the first two runs; i had seriously considered the dreamer design because it had the separate canopies and reclining and seemed like it might be a better fit for one to nap. My bigger boy fits in well, though his feet are already hanging out the front. I can't imagine a smaller seat. Of course, it doesn't fit through my front door, and I don't have an SUV, but it is well designed and worth the hassle of breaking down, etc.

we live in very rough area with unpaved roads, we make lots of trips and we use to travel a lot. we have BOB for 2 years, and it has never disapionted us. we took it abroad to unpaved roads and dunes with 2 kids and havy bags, and it was great! we were sure it will sink in deep sand, but it moved great. it stood in the unpleasent rides in the airplans and the frame still perfect. our oldest child is almost 5 and still feel comfortable in the stroller. the shock observer let us cross bolders and small rocks, and the children were safe and thrilled with happiness (they wanted more). we crossed rivers and fields, and it was like walking on a road. the only minus is the canopy- it always folds backwards, especially when windy, and we still don't find a way to solve it. in summery- we did EVERYTHING with this stroller, and it was always great. we are traveling the same as before we had children, and all thanks to BOB Daullie.
