This is the best car seat base by far! We have the Chicco stroller/infant carrier/bases, and before I bought the Orbit system, I thought that was the best on the market. The Orbit system allows one to mount the base & thus, the infant carrier in the middle of the 2nd row as it has a long strap fot the LATCH system. That is the only drawback of the Chicco- it can only be mounted on the right or left seats, by the doors vs in the center, which I feel is much safer for our baby's protection. It is, however, a bit on the heavy side, but once it is mounted & in place, it will stay put anyway, since everything else in the Orbit system mounts onto it. It feels secure and just feels like a quality product- plus, it can be exchanged- FREE OF CHARGE- once the toddler seat comes out (due out Feb 2008)! Overall, we absolutely love our Orbit system and although more expensive than most other travel/stroller systems, feel it is worth the premium price tag- plus it carries with it the exclusivity of having "something out of the ordinary". We have received compliments on it everywhere we go, as no one has ever seen one in use before. Therefore, if you dont mind the preice, I highly recommend the base/Orbit system for your Precious one(s)!
