Our MUST HAVE Travel Item

I can't imagine flying without this! We traveled to Maui with our 8 month old and his Britax Roundabout and were able to wheel him straight through the airport. My husband carried a backpack and pushed the carseat-turned-stroller and I wheeled my carry-on suitcase. We only had to check one additional bag! We received SO many comments in the airport -- some by grandmother types who were thrilled to see how gidddy our son was at his "low-ride" stroller trip through the airport (he was grinning the whole way) and some comments from envious moms toting toddlers and car seats and strollers alongside us. The travel-mate did NOT allow us to wheel our son all the way to our seats (we'd purchased a seat for him for the 5-hour-flight). The Roundabout car seat was too wide to roll down the airplane isle. So be prepared to lug the seat once you're on the plane if it is coming with you. The travel-mate disconnected easily from the seat so we could install on the plane -- two thumb-screws and it's off. Easy-peasy. I wouldn't travel any other way.

My husband and I were trying to find a product, like this one, that would allow us to travel easier with our carseat. We had a week to find something and get it shipped so I was really excited to see that Tip Toe Turtle offered same day shipping! Love this site!
I have to say this product was incredibly helpful to us. With long delays at the airport we were able to easily keep tabs on our little guy (14 month old) without lugging both he and our bulky Britax Boulevard around. Not having to bring an additional stroller was great!! He was happy to be wheeled around the airport in his carseat. We were glad to be able to have free hands when we needed them and backs that weren't aching!
Security was pretty breezy - we did have to detach our carseat but, that was no problem because it's really simple to do. We decided to gate check our car seat (If you do this, PLEASE use some sort of protective bag otherwise, you may see damage to your carseat! Airline workers don't seem to car much about $300 car seats :( Once we deboarded the plane, our carseat was waiting for us and we simply strapped our guy in and off we went. Super easy! I highly recommend this product. It has made my traveling days so much less stressful!

I love it. I have a 23 month old boy and i am 3 months pregnant. i just took a trip alone with my baby and had to stay in an airport for 6 hours. It help me a lot, he even sleep very confortable on it. It was perfect for my needs since I have strolers on the other end of my trip but not a biger car seat (babys grow so fast). It was the best choice.

Excellent approach to getting through the airport w/out a stroller. Airport security is a challenge since you may be asked to remove the QR wheels while unloading all other carry on baggage as it may not fit through the x-ray equipment. However removing quick release (QR) wheels is very easy. Due to the size of my seat it did not roll down the isle of the smaller commuter jets and I had to lift it to get it to my seat all the while maintaining an eye on my small child. The back plate can leave indentations in leather upholstery when installed in your vehicle.

I have to submit a review after travelling alone with my 11 month old. This was the best--I had one hand free to pull our wheely bag, hold my coffee, whatever. At the first airport it did not fit through the scanning belt, but they simply put it through another larger x ray machine, and on the return they hand scanned it, as I did not want to have to take it off the carseat. Both flights had open seats and I was able to carry the seat with wheels attached and child inside onto the plane and did not remove the gogo Kidz for the flight, just belted her in with a seatbelt extension. I was stopped many times by people asking where I had gotten it. I assembled it the night before and attached it to the carseat at the airport parking garage with my child sitting in the way back waiting...Was not hard. It's a must-have! We did not need to bring a stroller for this trip (borrowed one when we arrived) but I would just check the stroller in the future.

The Go-Go Babyz Travelmate worked very well on our recent trip. I simply took the wheels off and left it attached to the car seat and strapped it into the airplane seat. The travelmate strolled down the airplane aisle fine. I highly recommend this for any parent traveling with a child and car seat - it saves your body much wear and tear.

I have the original GoGo Kiz that only worked with Britax. I'm so glad to see that they have a universal model now since I am thinking of getting a lighter carseat to travel with my 2nd child. After reading all of the reviews the only negatives I see are people that complained about removing the wheels at security. You do not have to remove it! TSA can hand check the seat for you if it won't fit through the x-ray machine. Check out the website:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/index.shtm it's the 2nd bullet from the bottom of the "At the X-Ray" section. I would print the page and travel with it to show them in case they give you a hard time.
Our GoGo is going strong after 3 years, and at least 20 trips!

This little contraption is amazing!! It made travel with my 2 toddlers a breeze. I did have to remove it from my car seats through security because it was just a bit too tall to make it through the scanner. That wasn't too big of a deal though considering how much more of a pain getting through the rest of DIA would have been without it.
Elitecarseats.com is really who deserves the praise though! I ordered the travel mate a week before I was due to leave for my trip and one of the springs on one of the wheels was faulty. I called Elite and they had another one shipped out to me as soon as I put the old one back in the mail. They have the best customer service of any on-line retailer I have ever worked with and I am always happy to come back here because I know I will be taken care of!!!

Decent travel option
Reviewer: Beth ,

We bought this for a recent trip to Colorado with our 1 year old daughter. Not needing to bring the stroller with us on this trip, it seemed like an ideal solution. There are definite pluses and minuses. I was afraid that she wouldn't like being wheeled at that level (would be scary) but she didn't seem to mind it. Thus it did make it easy to get her from the car, on the shuttle to the security check point. Which brings us to the major minus - we found it would not fit through any of the security machines when attached to the carseat (we have the Britax Diplomat), so you have to unscrew it from the carseat, which seems simple enough, but when you feel like you are holding up the entire security line, those screws feel like they are about a mile long. I think they could have either made the screws shorter, or the knobs a little bigger so it was easier to get on and off. We bought a seat for her, so the hope was that she would stay in her carseat for the plane ride. We left the travelmate attached to the carseat and just took the wheels off when placing on the airplane seat - not sure if that's why she wouldn't sit in her carseat or not, but on the way home, we took it off and she seemed to be much happier. I think it doesn't allow the carseat to recline as much when it is on.
Overall we are happy with our purchase, and if you have to lug the carseat with you on the plane it is a good option to cart both it and the kid with you at once. Just be prepared to unhook it from the carseat to get through security and know that it most likely won't wheel down the airplane aisles.

A Definite Must Have For Traveling
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

I bought this to use for my eight month old son. It DID fit through the x-ray machine attached to a Britax Marathon at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. On the way home they had to use the hand wand because the x-ray machines were much smaller at the Dallas Ft. Worth Airport, which was not a big deal at all. It made traveling a lot less chaotic. It was nice not having to carry a carseat and maneuver a stroller at the same time. The only drawback is the fact that it does not fit in the overhead bin on the airplane. We had to gate check it, which wasn't too much of a pain. I would definitely recommend this product. It is well worth the money.

Essential for travel with babies
Reviewer: Andrea ,

I have an older version of this that goes with the Britax roundabout. Except on small regional jets like the CR7 it has rolled down aisles. It fits through most xray machines while attached to the seat. I often travel alone with my two and three year old. I use this to transport my two year old through the airport and onto the plane. Given my seat is not that heavy, I can lift my DS and the seat into the airplane seat if needed. My DS loves sitting in his seat riding backwards through the airport this way. I wouldn't go without it. I have been using it for 4 years.

Nothing new here, the Travelmate definitely makes traveling so much less stressful. Our 1-yr-old daughter fell asleep in her carseat and we had a civilized flight reading. (Remember the good old days?!) Having her familiar carseat on the flight made all the difference for napping.
The Quick-Release wheels made it so my Britax Roundabout fit through the scanners at Oakland and Las Vegas, no problem. No need to detatch the Travelmate. I think we did take it off on the plane because the handle hit the headrest. But detaching was easy. The screws twist off pretty fast and easily.
Our carseat was too big to wheel down most planes with the 3-3 seat configuration.
Like other reviewers, we got loads of comments on what a good idea it is. Wish I got commission for all my referrals!
I was wary of buying from other vendors, really wanted those QR wheels. Thanks elitecarseats for a quick delivery and good service.

I am SOOO glad that I bought this product! I also wish I got a $1 for each person that stopped me in the airport and commented on what a great idea the Travelmate is. I used it with a Britax Roundabout and it was very easy to install. My 7 month old also loved the novelty of being wheeled around the airport. We don't travel that often, but as I said about 50 times this trip, this product was worth EVERY penny!

This is great for traveling. I highly recommend it. We live in NYC, travel a lot and do not have a car. This is great when you take a cab, rent a car and fly often. Feels secure and easy to use. My 5 month old seems to like it. So far I only had to take the wheels off at the Boston's Logan airport's because it didn't fit in their X-ray machine. I use it with a Britax Marathon car seat.

Makes Travel Easier
Reviewer: Jennifer ,

I bought the GoGo Travelmate to travel alone with my 8month old. As with many of the reviews I had read; It does not fit through the x-ray machine attached to my carseat (Britax Decathlon). I had to unscrew it-Not a huge deal. It does not fit down the aisle of the aircraft on the carseat due to the car seat width. If you are traveling alone; it is very difficult to carry a car seat and an infant through the airplane. I had to remove it from the car seat for the plane ride (probably due again to the size of my carseat) because with the handle-it didnt fit in the seat space (in the rear facing position). My biggest complaint is that the way it attaches to the carseat. It attaches with 2screws; which is fine at home or in any open area. However on the plane presents more of a difficulty. Since I had to un-attach it while on the plane. I mistakenly threw the screws in my carry on bag (where they got lost) So on when getting off the plane. I had the carseat, the gogo travelmate, my carry on bag, and the baby all to maneuver with. So my suggestion is to be sure u know where and have easy access to the screws. Maybe one day they will make a safe spot to secure them fo the travelmate.
As for assembly...it was very easy. I had a defective wheel which was replaced immediately without any problems.
Overall, I would suggest this to anyone who was interested. It may not be perfect; but it makes a lot of differences to make travel easier. I do plan on using it every time I travel.

We travel a lot and when I take our son by myself this product is a life saver. It makes lugging his seat through airports manageable. I have the model with the quick release wheels and left the Travelmate attached to his Britax marathon seat when I strapped him into the airplane seat. It was so easy. Then I just snapped the wheels back on when we landed. Thanks for a great product.

This dolly saved me several times already as I travel with my toddler and her car seat on every flight. The only issue I have with it is that it is very cumbersome to attach and the wheels are a little iffy, meaning you've got to be sure that the little wire thing is in position or the wheels come off. I already lost a screw because it came loose after I had to check it at the plane - a small one.

My husband took our daughter on a trip by himself and the Travelmate saved his life! It was so easy to transport her through the airport and not have to check the carseat. The only problem was he had to take it off the carseat in the Dulles Airport because it did not fit through the security belt. In Atlanta he only had to releases the wheels. Just be prepared to have to take the entire travelmate off the carseat for some airports. This was definitely worth the money.

This is the most awesome contraption!! I pay for an extra seat on the plane for my baby because I think it is a small price to pay for my baby's safety. The only problem is lugging the carseat through the airport. Not anymore!! I just attach the go go babyz and strap my son in the car seat and you have an instant stroller!! I have a Britax Decathlon and it attaches to it with ease. The only small problem I have is that the car seat sits way too upright in a car when the go go babyz is attached. But it is so easy to remove that I really can't complain. I just wait until I arrive at the airport then attach the go go babyz. I would have given it 10 stars!!

Gogo Kidz Universal Travelmate

The Gogo Travelmate helped us tremendously on our recent trip to NY. There is no way we could have carried the car seat, our 10 month old son and our 3 carry on bags. To get an outstanding rating, they would need to improve the manner in which it latches onto the car seat. When our car seat was attached to the Gogo, it would not fit through the security x-ray conveyer belt. We had to dismantle it and then reassemble it after going through security. As you can imagine it held up the line. However we still highly recommend this device!!!!

I have had my travelmate for three years using it with two kids. I often travel alone with my two toddlers, and could not do it without this. I have been able to wheel it down most aisles, except for smaller commuter planes (CRJ7). I keep the child right in the seat down the aisle and into the airline seat. It can be a little tricky getting it buckled in, but patience is all you need. My ds loves being pulled behind me in it like a suitcase. You can also push it ahead of you. Awesome.

Wouldn't fly without it!
Reviewer: Sherrie ,

Had a rough time figuring out which strap setting to use initially, but now it is a breeze! To keep the strap the right length, I leave one side adjusted by folding over one end of the strap so the screw goes through 2 grommets and then always leave this end connected to the cart. On the other side of the strap I use the end grommet so itā??s easy to remember in a hurry! Once I shortened the strap, determining which hole height to use to have the car seat sit right on the cart was a lot easier! This thing is awesome! I wouldn't fly with my daughter without it! Also, an added bonus! You don't have to gate check it like a stroller! I've used it on 5+ flights now & I don't take the wheels off. I buckle the whole thing with the wheels on into the seat and just like you would a car seat. Most airlines have seat extenders that make this a lot easier! Leaving the wheels on is a great timesaver when dealing with connecting flights! Especially when it's only you and your toddler traveling! P.S. When I purchased mine, I was told you could roll it up and down an aisle on the plane. So far, it has not fit in any aisle on any plane I have been on while attached to the car seat. To get off & on the plane I extend the car seat straps all the way and slip the car seat on like a back-pack with the padded seat part on my back. Works great donā??t buy the extra back-pack straps until you try it! I gave mine away afer they went all the way to Mexico and back without ever having been used!

I have another solo trip coming up with my toddler. Is there phone customer service assistance?

I have found no difficulty in using this product and I would highly reccomend it to anyone who does any sort of traveling with kids.

We loved using this product on our most recent airport/airplane trip. Our 9-month-old was so much more comfortable in his regular Marathon seat than in the travel seat/stroller we used when our daughter was younger. The reviewers said the attachment was easy to use, and they were right. We left it on the carseat for the flight (rear-facing), but removing it for car travel was fast and easy. Also, the fully-extended handle length was great for us, and we're on the tall side. Great product!

I used this product once. I took it on a recent airline trip with my 2 year old son. I checked my luggage and car seat with the GoGo Kidz Travelmate attached to the car seat. When I arrived at my destination, the GoGo Kidz Travelmate was missing a wheel. The airline would not take responsibility. I threw the Travelmate away, as it was useless and would not fit in my luggage for the return trip. I do not know if the manufacturer discourages checking it on airline flights, but what other time would you use it except when traveling?
Comments from The Staff:
Very sorry to hear of the break. The great thing about this product is that you can stroll up to the plane and use the seat on the plane without removing it. But if you don't have a seat, then yes, it is meant to gate check. With checking a car seat, there is always risk of breakage, be glad it wasn't your seat, that happened to me once, and no the airling won't be responsible for it. Thanks for the feedback, and very sorry for your mishap.

I used this product while traveling to Europe alone with my 17 month old. I needed the carseat but couldn't do stroller, carseat, and carryon alone. It fit well, rolled well, and did everything it claimed! The only thing I wish were different was the length of the handle. It is not adjustable and felt too long for me. Other than that, I am completely satisfied and relieved that I bought this. Don't know how I would have traveled without it!

Easy to put the seat on, rolls like a champion, got soooo many comments on it. Our Britax Marathon fit through the security scanner at the airport with this on no problem (just lay the seat face down with wheels in up). We gate checked the seat, and picked it up right when we got off the plane with no delay. We used to check the car seat, but one seat got cracked, and no, they don't pay for that damage, and another time we got all bags but they lost the seat. This is a great idea. I rolled my daugher all the way to the rental car while she slept! Highly recommend it.

We are now purchasing a second one of these for our first, and discarding our previous "travel mate."
This item was very well engineered -- fits very snugly to the Britax seat, remains stable, and doesn't require removal to be used on the airplane.
