In terms of storage space, rider comfort, car seat compatibility, and unique features, the Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Twin is among the very best in feature-loaded swivel wheel all terrain double strollers-with its closest competitor (the Mountain. Buggy Urban Double) but has a number of distinct advantages.

What sets that Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Twin apart from the competition?
The advantages to owning a Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Twin are in the details . . . there is so much offered by this stroller in terms of parent convenience and comfort (for as many as three riders!) that it's actually difficult to get it all together in just a few short paragraphs, but we'll do our best. The question is what properties give the Valco Tri-Mode Twin an advantage over its competitors? The answer: all sorts of things.
To begin, the Valco Twin is lighter, narrower, and has a much higher seat back than either the Phil and Teds Twin or the Mountain Buggy Urban Double-meaning mobility, more comfort for taller kids, and the promise of extended usefulness. The long list of compatible infant car seats**, via brand-specific optional adapters, make the Valco double stroller an invaluable parental accessory that can be used from you first child's birth onward. Plus, the Tri Mode Twin folds with the car seat adapter attached, but the fold will not be as compact.
Valco also offers an innovative 'toddler seat' that adds a third passenger, an option that the Mountain Buggy Urban Double (the Valco has more car seat options) can't claim. The Valco has individually adjustable sun canopies to meet your kid's shade preferences.
What parent-oriented conveniences does the Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Twin offer?
The Valco Tri-Mode Twin stroller is loaded with storage space: a huge underside basket, auxiliary pockets on the sides of the basket, and two removable storage bags that can be unzipped and hung on the handles for easy access the diapers, bottles, and other parental necessities. By removing the diaper bags located on the backs of the seats, you open up large ventilating windows that let the breeze flow through the seat to cool off your passengers. The handle bar is height adjustable, and the one step-braking mechanism adds another dimension of safety. The new footplate above the wheels is perforated so that water and grime from the little one's shoes won't pool up, and the plate can be easily rinsed clean. A one touch seat recline, similar to Baby Joggers 'pinch and slide' mechanism, makes dropping or raising the seats a snap. And of course there's Valco's range of car seat adaptors available that make the Runabout compatible with Graco, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP, and the Britax Companion-though only one adaptor can be used at a time. It also comes with a rain cover.
Why is this stroller called the 'Tri-Mode'?
Valco has devised a unique swivel wheel system that can be set to three separate ?modes?. The first is full 360-degree orientation for total maneuverability in tight spaces, like department stores or busy sidewalks. The second mode is 45-degrees of forward mobility, which allows for tighter tracking on long walks where tight turns aren't as common. The third mode fixes the front wheel forward for better control on trails and rugged terrain-even on a light jog. Valco recommends the 45-degree mode for use with the toddler seat attachment.
The Bottom Line: The wide range of conveniences offered by the Australian-made Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Twin explains its rather high price point, but this upper-echelon stroller has so much to offer that the price should not be a deterrent. Again, compared to other double strollers offered for about the same price (namely the MB Urban Double and Phil and Teds Twin) the conveniences and options presented by the Valco Tri-Mode Twin set it above the others, by far. The Valco Runabout Tri-Mode Twin is an exceptionally parent-friendly double stroller with long-term usability and a concentration on rider comfort.

Valco Tri Mode Twin double stroller Reviews
The best stroller for heavy kids
after 2 years, still fantastic
Couple of points to consider...1. It is one of the skinniest side-by-side strollers, so 9 times out of 10 you will fit through doorways. 2. Very durable and sturdy. Our twins are now 3 1/2, each weighing 38 pounds, and we have our 45-pound 5-year old sitting on the metal kick plate in the front, and we still don't have problems maneuvering it. 3. It is heavier than most and a bit bulky folded up. This hasn't stopped us at all from taking it on EVERY vacation we go on, whether it be by car or plane. This stroller is worth it. When my children are too old to be in this stroller, I will still have trouble parting with it.
