Our Review of the RECARO Young Style booster seat

On Clearance for $84.99! Regularly priced at $129.99. Save $45

From the makers of high-end seats for adult drivers, the RECARO Young Style belt positioning booster keeps your little one as safe as professional racers, and looking just as good. Sharing safety qualities of its fellow RECARO car seats, the Young Style incorporates head and torso wings as part of RECARO's SIP side impact protection. Made of energy absorbing EPS foam, the Young Style's head wings are extra-large to provide the best possible protection, and they give your little one neck support when you take Porsche-inspired turns.

The RECARO Young Style is a great car seat for those long rides or road-trips, with plenty of padding, soft easy-to-clean microfiber upholstery, and great support. This seat will really grow with your child. What do I mean by that? Well, the Young Style's height can be adjusted by way of the headrest or the backrest. These individual height adjustment options give your little one a perfect fit when he or she's not so little anymore!

We wish more booster seats would offer a fully adjustable backrest - many other models only adjust at the headrest leaving children in an awkward, unsupported position. Not the case with RECARO! While the Young Style doesn't offer quite the same level of personalization as the RECARO Start, it's head and shoulders above most booster seats on the market.

It is important to note that the RECARO Young Style will fit most (but not all) cars--it must be used forward facing, and should only be installed in vehicles equipped with 3-point safety belts.

    Awesome seat!

I bought two of these seats a year and a half ago when my twins were 3 1/2 and simply too large for their convertibles. Even though their heights and weights were well within the limits, I simply couldn't get the belts on their Evenflo seats buckled any more. I did a lot of research and sat the children in every booster seat I could find. They hated every single one and told me they were uncomfortable. Finally, I found the Recaro Young Style. It was expensive, but so much safer than any other booster seat I had seen. I found a local distributor and tried my twins (a solid boy and a slender girl) in the seats... They both loved them! The seats are NOT that narrow. In fact, I found they were much roomier than the Britax boosters and easier to adjust to each child. I ordered them from this site where the cost (and the service) was much better. After just 3 days, my husband - who just couldn't believe I would spend that much on booster seats - asked me to order a set for his car, as well. The children never wanted to get into his car and continually asked for their "big kid" seats. So we own four; two for his car and two for mine. It is now 1 1/2 years later and the seats are still going strong. They are light, comfortable, safe, easy for the kids to buckle themselves correctly, easy to transfer to the babysitter's car, and support their heads and necks on long trips. They are super easy to clean and show little wear after heavy usage. I don't regret a single dime spent on these seats. When you think about it, with the new car seat rules, children will be in a booster seat for up to five years - much longer than they will use any other car seat. That is where your money is best spent; on safety, comfort and convenience. The Recaro has it all.

This is my second Recaro booster seat purchase. I now have one for my 6 year old and 4 year old. The Recaro booster seats are super soft and comfy, easy for a child to secure, safely, by themselves, and truly supports a child's head while asleep. For the parent, the booster seat is light-weight, has an easy carry handle, and has easily removable, machine washable, seat covers. You won't be disappointed by this purchase!

Should have bought two of these seats

We bought this seat for my 3 yo daughter and love it. It is much more substantial in construction than the Britax booster we purchased for my husband's car. It is also easier to adjust in height than the Britax. The Recaro is our preferred travel booster as it is easier to lug through the airport with the handle on top.

    too small

I have been trying to choose a booster seat for my 4 year old son. he's 43 inches tall and about 42 pounds. He's been in a Marathon, but has pretty much outgrown it as far as height. I really wanted this seat, but felt like I should see it in person before ordering it. So, I found someone locally and took him down there to try it out. I'm SO glad I did!! It is MUCH too narrow - and he's a skinny kid - but no way would he fit in this seat. He had no shoulder room at all and was very uncomfortable. I am so so so glad we checked it out in person before ordering. We also looked at a Compass - and while I don't like the fabric as well as this one, it is much more comfortable. Also, the Recaro appears to be really soft, but there is not much padding beneath the soft cover. I was not impressed with this seat at all. It would work for a smaller child, but really, IMO a smaller child could still be in a 5 pt. harness. We are ordering the Compass today and my son is super excited!!!

    Comments from The Staff:

Thanks for the review! The Recaro is a very narrow seat - so if your child has a long torso, you might run in to a problem. Every child is different, so sometimes you just have to try your child in a few different seats until you find what will fit your little one perfectly.

The Compass boosters are great - they're often my top pick, when someone is looking for a booster. I'm glad you're happy with your choice.

Another option might also be the SafeGuard Go, this seat will accommodate a child up to 65 pounds in a 5 Point Harness, and then after the weight limit, is converts to a backless booster seat. Of course, a 5 Point Harness would be my preference for any child, over a booster. So this is a great option!

Ready to buy another for daughter #2!

We purchased this car seat for our 4 1/2 year old daughter a couple of months ago and she loves it. We love that she can get herself in and out of her seat. Now her 3 year old sister can't wait to get one of her own. It also works well in both of our vehicles and is easy to transfer. It is very comfortable for her to travel in and is good for taking naps. We won't hesistate to get one another one soon and were very pleased with the customer service at elitecarseats.com.

    Wonderful

My son is about the size of a 7yr old and is only 5 and so my concern was finding a seat that is comfortable and very safe. I reviewed every booster seat on the market and this one is the best. The side impact wings are especially great for when he falls asleep so his head doesn't fall forward. Since then I have since bought another one so when I have other children in my car I have piece of mind knowing they are just as safe.

I am going back to Britax. This is a good car seat, stylish, but not very comfortable when the child falls asleep.I have the Britax Husky in my other car and that is a much better choice at least for me.

    Comments from The Staff:

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that the Young Style didn't work out for you! I've never heard anyone say that the Young Style was uncomfortable when their child fell asleep in it - I'm really surprised to hear that! If you're interested in going back to Britax - the Husky has now been replaced by the Britax Regent.
