To Much Sun

I have a two year old and a new born. In the newborn position, with the double seat on top, all went well. However, with the double seat in the rear position, there is too much open space. Some might think that's good. I don't. When you walk during the day, there is no way to shield the little ones from the sun. When I spent close to $500 on the Phil and Teds Sport, I did not think I would have to shell out another $60 to get a sun cover.(and another $50 for the rain cover) Very disappointing. In my opinion it should come with a rain and sun cover, since there is no way to use it outside consistently. Other than that, I'm happy with it's maneuverability.

Will jog and will travel

I love this jogger. I have taken this stroller through airports with ease. It folds up easliy and pops into place quickly. I purchased this stroller when my baby was 4 weeks old and have used it daily for the last 13 months. The stroller is still in excellent condition. When it arrived there was a manufacturer's defect. I phoned the company and they immediately sent replacements. I have had a great experience with the customer service.

It has it's place

This is my third stroller. My other two are the BOB ironman (single) and the Peg Perego P3. I bought this stroller and the second seat last year (2007)when my second child was born. The reason for choosing this over a double BOB was it's small "footprint" and ability to seat two.
That said, I do not feel it's high price is justified by it's engineering. If you want a well made stroller buy a BOB. If you want a stroller that you can take to the mall with two small children buy this.
Neither of my children liked the baby-toddler mode. This year they take turns sitting in the front and back as neither really enjoys the back seat (visibility is limited.) My older daugther walks more now so usually she gets the back seat when she is tired (I have never had any tipping problems-but she is also very light).
The handlebar bag is kinda hokey and dangles too low, all beverages must be tightly capped. The brake is hard to put on. The handlebars could do with a telescoping feature (In toddler-toddler mode you have to hunch over a bit to reach the handle bars).
The sunvisor is very skimpy and offers very limited protection (really the BOB spoiled me). A removable plastic snack tray would be a nice touch and easy for the company to add on or sell as an accessory.
This stroller is not perfect but with a few changes could be.
What I love is the small size, short turning radius and the narrow profile. Easy to push and turn with one hand, the stroller rolls well. I give it 4 stars because it keeps us all mobile and in one neat package.

Functional, Yet Hard To Steer
Reviewer: Tim ,

Purchased New P&T Sport in April 2007. A word to the wise: TEST DRIVE BEFORE YOU BUY. If you're okay with the steering, it'll be a good stroller for you.
PROS:
1) Compact double, with narrow profile of single stoller
2) Adjustable handlebar
3) Lay flat feature nice for infant
4) Easy to collapse
5) Very versatile & functional
CONS:
1) Wheels need to be bigger for a smoother ride
2) Tires lose air pressure over time
3) Fabric seam pulled apart in two different places within the first MONTH of use. Found out at month eleven that neither fabric, nor easily torn foam handlebar cover are covered under one year warranty
4) VERY HARD TO MANEUVER. Front wheel hangs up when changing direction abruputly. VERY frustrating. Mutiple emails to Phil&Teds customer service not returned. Tried greasing the pin/sheave (should be a roller bearing like some other strollers), tried overinflating front tire, neither helped. The stroller works fine, it's just a fight to steer it. I can effortlessly drive my brother's BOB Revolution around with one hand, while our Sport requires two hands and WAAAAAY more effort. I've seen this in other reviews as well, so I think it's a design flaw, not a stroller specific issue.

A few low points

I bought this stroller for my 3 year old girl and 2 month old baby boy thinking it would be the perfect solution, but it wasn't. Although overall this is a good stroller there are a number of things that are not functional:
the front seat (i.e. the regular single stroller seat) is small and if you have a tall toddler you cannot use the sunshade and it's not very comfortable (my 3 year old is 40inch tall).
The reclining mechanism is very poorly designed - it's impossible to lift the seat up with the child actually in the seat. Which makes it difficult when your baby has just woken up from a nap and wants to sit up: you have to take the child out of the stroller and you still need 2 hands to clip the clips in (there's really no way you can lift the seat up while you are holding your baby). Many other strollers have a much more functional system where you just pull a line and the seat comes up/down.
The foot break is very hard to manouvre, I still need to bend down and lock it/unlock it by hand.
The back seat doesn't recline much and I still haven't been able to use it with my 5 month old baby as it's too upright. When I placed my 3 year old in the front doubles seat and my baby in the fully reclined position in the main seat, the baby had very little room above him. So I have only been able to use the stroller as a single stroller, which to me defeats the purpose. I think the concept of this stroller is great, but it needs to be perfected.

A great investment

I do love this stroller. I have a 2 year-old and a 6-week old, and the thing I like best is all of the different configurations. Sometimes I only have my 6-week old with me and I really like the versatility, I can just pop the car seat in and go, no need to swap strollers in my car etc... The Doubles-kit is semi easy to change on the go. My 6-week old loves to lie flat and she really hates to be confined in anything so she loves it and rocks off to sleep everytime! The canopy when the doubles kit sits in front is a little short for my daughter who is tall for her age (34"). Hopefully she will fit long enough for my newborn to move to the rear seat. A couple of things I dont like: 1. No canopy on the rear seat for sun protection. 2. Instructions are not easy to follow - photos are too small and dark in the literature. 3. Harnesses on the stroller itself plus the doubles kit are not great and are basically useless for a newborn. 4. For a $500 stroller you would think they could include its own tyre pump. 5. Brake works but is hard to get to and difficult to use in flip flops. Overall I love this stroller and I only wanted to buy one, and this works for us. Mine is apple green in color - and we get a lot of comments everywhere we go. People always ask where my newborn is, as she is hidden underneath! If living in a very cold climate I am not sure how it would go, as you really cant 'seal' the newborn underneath in. Perhaps this is where you would need the cocoon. I think this stroller will see us through, especially as we would like to have a 3rd baby in the next couple of years.

Great Stroller

We live in NYC and this stroller saved us. It's imperfect in some ways ... the canopy is too low and tiny; our baby didn't like like lying flat and it's really hard to get him in; the brakes are hard to work; and, there's not so much storage. That said and all this aside, it rides great and offers, I think, incomparable double strolling.

The Best for doubles
Reviewer: Kate ,

I love this stroller! I have been through a lot of strollers (4 doubles and 6 singles). It's light weight, folds easily, and maneuvers well. If I had to find something to complain about, I'd say I don't love the break. It works fine, but it's hard to put in place when I'm wearing flip flops. Otherwise, everything is wonderful about this stroller. I've always done a lot of walking and when I just had one baby, that was easy enough with most strollers, but with my twins, I have really felt like I lost a lot of mobility and freedom. All the double strollers were too long or too wide or too heavy. This stroller isn't any of those things. I feel like I'm back to pushing a singles stroller, but with the pleasure of having both of my babies with me. This stroller pushes great with one hand and is short enough in length that it is actually possible to open a shop door and push the stroller in without needing someone to run over and help me. This is the first double setup where I have found that to be true. I also have found it works well with one of the babies on the bottom and my four year old on top. I have a City Jogger doubles (side by side) and it's really hard to push if the weight differences are significant. I also love that if I go somewhere with just one child, then I can set it up as just a single. Before my Phil and Ted's, I kept my City Jogger double and an umbrella in my trunk. This took up alot of room. Also, when folded, the Phil and Ted's doesn't take up much more space than my double umbrella stroller. It really is a wonderful stroller.

2 IS Better Than 1...

It really is easy to go on walks or shop with two children under the age of 2 with this stroller. My sister has the Valco Runabout Twin stroller which I really like using because I was surprised that it is REALLY easy to push and maneuver for being wide, even if the storage area is hard to get to and the visors are flimsy. I had thought I was going to purchase one also, but then I came across this stroller! The overall weight of the stroller is less than the Valco, which is important for me with all of the lifting in and out of the car, and the compact fold fits in the back of my wagon. I really like that it is not a side-by-side (without feeling like I am pushing a bus). My son who is 2 thinks it is fun to sit "on top of" his little sister. My sister's kids who are 2 and 4 do a lot of fighting when one of them gets over on "their" part of the stroller in the side-by-side Valco. I REALLY like all of the configurations with this stroller. My 9 week old can lay flat while my son sits above her. Eventually, she will sit beneath him as we did purchase the 2nd seat. When my son wants to walk I put my daughter's car seat in the stroller for yet another configuration. The shocks are great on this stroller and it is very EASY to maneuver, go over bumps, curbs, go through doorways, etc. Like with many strollers, the canopy never shades enough of the child (but it is not flimsy). This is a common stroller problem and it shouldn't be the determining factor for a purchase. I do miss the cup holders that my other stroller has, but I have learned to down-size and either put the item under the stroller or carry it in my bag. I feel this is a well-designed, solid stroller that is safe for my two children. I am really pleased with our purchase!
