Our Review of the Graco Mosaic stroller - Ionic

Graco Mosaic strollers have a very distinct style, with an oblong shape to the frame and well-configured and padded ergonomic handles. The unusual shape of the Graco Mosaic Ionic is not just for looks. Mosaic strollers feature the tightest fold in the Graco stroller family, utilizing 3-Dimensional collapsing mechanics that make them the only true "umbrella" strollers that Graco offers. This extremely tight fold and relatively low weight of the Graco Mosaic make it one of the most portable strollers on the market, ideal for parents who like to get in and out in a hurry.

The Mosaic Ionic is a one-half of a Graco travel system; it is fully compatible with both the Graco SnugRide and the Infant SafeSeat (Step 1). The Mosaic Ionic matches up with the SafeSeat in Ionic, but the SnugRide in Metropolitan will coordinate as well.

The Mosaic Ionic is the most affordable of the highly portable Mosaic strollers because it lacks a few extra features offered with the Mosaic Giselle and Mosaic Lotus. All Mosaic strollers offer a true umbrella fold and automatic storage lock, making them extremely easy to transport and store. They also offer removable cupholders near the handles and a large basket beneath the seat for bringing along what you need. The locking front wheels and one-touch brakes provide control over rougher surfaces and parking security in places that aren't that level.

For the passenger of your Mosaic stroller there is plenty to offer in terms of comfort and convenience. The padded seat is wide and comfortable, and the padded belly bar and armrests gives them something to lean on and fool around with. There is a 3 or 5-point harness to keep them secure, and the seat reclines to several different positions if they're in the mood to sleep, or just kick back and relax.

Bottom Line: At 19 lbs., and with a 40 lbs. weight capacity, the Graco Mosaic Ionic is an easy to manage travel system stroller that will last through much of your child's early development. Designed for maximum convenience, Mosaic strollers come in at the middle of Graco's weight class and fold up extra tight. They don't have the best wheels or suspension (that would be the Quattro Tour Deluxe), but if you're looking for an affordable, stylish stroller that?s great for quick ins and outs, you can do no wrong with a Mosaic. Other Mosaic models offer additional features over the Ionic for just a few dollars more.

What features will you get with a deluxe Mosaic Giselle or Mosaic Lotus that you don't with the Mosaic Ionic?

The Mosaic Giselle includes:

  • Detachable head pillow
  • Hide-away cupholder
  • Raincover
  • Mesh pocket for kids

I LOVE this stroller!!

Reviewer: Erin T. , Monroe, LA Date: June 07, 2007
I bought this stroller (in another color & not the LX model) because my large Compass S330 was too big & bulky for quick trips or multiple-stop trips. I have a Camry Hybrid-with a TINY trunk & the large travel system stroller takes up way too much room & is difficult to manage when taking it in & out. I researched tirelessly to find a small, compact-folding stroller that would still have the features I wanted & accomodate my 4 month old. The Mosaic is the answer! I have compared it in person to the Britax Preview & a few main stream brands that were similar & it is definitely my top pick for its type. It's about $50 cheaper than the Britax & WAY easier to fold, unfold & recline. It reclines nearly flat so my son can nap comfortably, yet has a secure 5 point harness so he can sit up & look out without sliding out, as he can't sit up on his own yet. The recline feature is also 1 handed & a breeze compared to my other stroller in which you have to adjust a strap on either side of the seat back. It pushes & manuevers like a dream & turns on a dime (even 1 handed!)...so not possible with the big "Cadillac" stroller, as my husband calls it. The fold is so simple that if it were any easier it would fold itself completely...just a turn of a lever in the back & voila! , down it goes! Neither my husband nor I have had any trouble doing it 1 handed. A few downsides are that there is only 1 small cup holder instead of the full tray on my big stroller, but the 3D fold wouldn't be possible with the full tray, so it's worth it. Also, the basket is pretty shallow and although the stroller is super compact when folded, it is pretty heavy-not a problem for me since I don't carry it often, but could be for someone who had to lug it up a few flights of stairs or on & off a city bus or something...it does, however, roll when folded so that may help. All in all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stroller & would definitely buy it again.

Pretty Good for What it is

We purchased this stroller after our baby was a little older and we did not think we needed the big Graco Quattro Tour anymore. This stroller is light and folds up lengthwise to 1/4 the size (more or less), but there are few things to note. You can not fold and unfold with one hand, so it would be hard with a younger baby. Also, we got it to save room in the back of our SUV. The Graco Quattro tour could only fit in the very middle of the back of the truck, or side ways. We though this stroller would be the length when folded and still fit sideways but take up 1/2 the room, and it does not- it is longer. Also, when folded, there is a clip on one side only to keep it closed and together, so it does not fold up as compact if it could if there was a clip on both sides. All and all, for the ones that fold twice like this, it still seems the best, but it is definately not perfect.
