Our Review of the Eddie Bauer Designer 22 infant car seat

The Eddie Bauer Designer 22 Infant Car Seat is a basic infant car seat – comparable to those offered by Graco – with a signature plush Eddie Bauer exterior, and the added convenience of an in-car base. Equipped with LATCH, this Eddie Bauer baby seat can also be installed using conventional seatbelts. The carrier handle has a soft foam grip for comfort, and an adjustable canopy with a covered window provides shade for your baby and visibility for you.

The length and fit of the Designer 22 car seat's 5-point harness is easy to adjust in the back of the shell. A lever on the back of the seat allows you to release the seat from the base, and it locks back into the base with just a push and a click.

Like all infant carseats today, the Eddie Bauer Designer 22 has a weighted base that the infant carrier locks into.  If you must frequently switch your carseat back and forth between several family cars, or find it easier to keep your baby in the infant carrier than take them in and out of a harness, this is the feature for you.

The base of the Designer 22 reclines easily into three positions, so you will always have the proper angle for installation.  Additional bases (maybe for dad or grandma's cars) are available as well, making it easier to switch the carseat easily between vehicles. Without the base, you can still transfer the carseat from one car to another by using the vehicle's seatbelt – but it is much, much easier to install an infant seat with a base. The no-thread belt path makes buckling the baseless carrier a snap.

The comfort factor for Eddie Bauer carseats is equivalent to Graco infant seats. While quite safe and comfortable, the Eddie Bauer Designer 22 is not as thickly padded as the Chicco Key Fit or the Compass I-410.

LOVES IT!!!!!!

I have a 3 yr. old and a 8 month, the car seat was exactly what I needed ny daughter fit perfectly in it. It has lasted me since birth till now. yet it's time to get a bigger car seat. what can i say she's a big girl. At least I can past it on too my son's Godmother who is do next month. She LOVES IT just as much as i do.

okay but hadly no padding

I bought Eddie Bauer travel system because I like the design and wanted something that would have everything I need. After I had my daughter she was only 6 pounds when she left the hospital there was no padding very hard. I had to but the kiddopatimus snuggler. That is the best thing you can use get to help keep your little one snug. With that combination with the seat and snuggler it worked perfectly. I think Eddie Bauer need to rethink the design and comfort for baby. Because Saftey and comfort is extremely important.

difficult to buckle

seems like a good seat until you try to buckle a wiggling child into it. The canopy also seems pretty flimsy. The seat is also a little difficult to lock into the base.But that is not as bad as the buckling system.Other than that the padding and fabric are very nice.But we are going to get a new one.After four boys and lots of car seats we don't want to hassle with this one.

Designer 22 is well padded and easy to install

After carefully feeling the padding on every car seat I could find, I was appalled at how bare-bones almost all of them were. No wonder babies hate being in them. Their little bodies are up against bumpy, hard plastic, with no "give." I wouldn't want to ride in one myself. EXCEPT for the Eddie Bauer model. This one is very well psdded all the way from head to toe for a comfortable ride for my grandson, who instantly falls asleep when he's put into it. It was easy to install, and having the release handle on the back of the cradle part makes it much easier to release from the base than models that have the release in the cradle's handles. It's also easy to get the baby in and out of.

Car Seat

After extensive research we decided to purchase the Eddie Bauer carseat and stroller and it was the best decision we made. My son is now 9 months old and is still in the car seat. Most of my friends babies were out of their carseats at 6 months old due to the limited length. This is the only car seat that goes up to 29 inches/22 pounds. The straps are easy to adjust and the handle is easy to move. It also comes with a cover which was wonderful when my son was a newborn. I have no complaints about this car seat or the stroller would definately recommend both.

life saver

I just had to write in and say this seat is well worth the money. My husband and baby son were involved in a bad accident right after Thanksgiving and the seat kept my son safe. He came out of the accident with a very minor bruise above his left eye and other than that he was just fine. My husband was wearing his safety belt and is ok except for having to have five staples to close a cut on his head. Considering that the vehicle flipped and the car seat did not move at all and kept my son completley secure I think is pretty remarkable. It was time to by front facing seats now and we went out and bought two Eddie Bauer car seats. I would not have considered buying anything else.

I purchased these carseats as part of a double stroller system. They are very easy to clean, taking apart and putting back together, and are easy to carry (one at a time). well padded and i love the 5 point harness.
