Our Review of the Eddie Bauer Adjustable Booster

The Eddie Bauer Adjustable Booster starts out as a forward facing toddler carseat with an integrated 5-point harness, good for kids from 22-40 lbs. The Adjustable Booster then ?graduates? to a backless booster (by detaching the seatback, naturally) or belt positioning booster that allows a child up to 100 lbs. to ride in safety. Like all Eddie Bauer carseats, the Adjustable Booster comes covered in soft, neutral fabrics that any kid will find comfortable.

The removable backrest of the Adjustable Booster has deep side wings with energy absorbing ProTech foam, and uses an adjustable 5-point harness to secure kids from 22-40 lbs. The headrest adjusts to 3 different heights, and the pivoting armrests flip up and out of the way to make climbing in and out of the Adjustable Booster easier. There?s also two cupholders, which, as any parent who?s ever had a drink spilled all over their backseat will attest, are a very handy feature.
 
The Adjustable Booster is a less-expensive alternative to the belt-positioning Eddie Bauer Deluxe Booster. Like the Deluxe version, the Adjustable Booster offers great features like the cupholders and armrests, but the Deluxe Booster also has these unique benefits:

This car seat does not live up to the Eddie Bauer tradition. First of all, my son is 3 yr. old, about 34 pounds, and barely fits in the seat. It does not accommodate his shoulder width, btw, his shoulder width is average. The back rest provides literally no support since there is no cushioning in the lower back portion of this seat. It is very cheaply made and I would discourage others from purchasing this seat. This seat in now in the garage, for I would not want to sell or give it to anyone. We purchased another seat that my son is quite happy to be in.

Not for a Volvo

I pretty much have to second everything "Just OK" from Gilroy, CA had to say. I can not get this thing installed well in my Volvo. I've set in it and pulled on the straps and it still will not get tight enough that dare put my child in it to run to the store and return it. You can not get the LATCH belt to tighten down enough, even tethered it slides around like crazy. My girls are 15 and 30 months, for the younger one the straps are in the highest position and for the older the top of her shoulder is over the highest belt position. I bought two of these because we really need two cars w/ two seats and we hated to spend $600 on two more Britax marathons. Guess what, I just did - those things cost over 3x what I paid for this one for a reason. Stop and look at a different seat, maybe the Britax models.

Great seat for the price

I think this seat is great! Mine has plenty of padding all over. I picked this one because of the added pillow in the center that is adjustable and because of the upper sides of the seat. I love how much further they curve out over other car seats. I feel if we were in an accident that my son's head would not get tossed around as bad. My son must think it is pertty comfortable as well...he falls asleep within 10 minutes of being in it anywhere we go. We currently have no issues with the staps seeing as my son is only 15 months old.

Just OK

Issues: Seat back doesn't adjust so it's difficult to get it to conform to the car seat. No padding in the middle back, so my child looks like she's hunched over. I added a piece of foam under the cover so she could sit straight. The top strap hole is low for a tall child. The shoulder straps don't tighten enough to be safe. When pulled completely tight, I was easily able to get my entire hand under the shoulder belt. Latch attachments are cheap and hard to use. I expected a better mechanism for the cost of this seat. Color of the fabric is nothing like the photos...it's actualy sage green, not light tan.

Good things: Cupholders are nice. Seat padding and size of seat are adequate. Fabric is very soft.

Bottom line: Not the best choice for a seat with 5 point harness. I didn't try it in the booster-only mode because there are many better choices on the market.

Wow, sounds like you have had a heck of a time with this seat! We do have a 30 day return policy, and would have been more then happy to pay back the return shipping if the seat you had gotten was discolored, and we would have been more then happy to help you choose another seat that would be a little bit more comfortable for the child.
