Our Review of the Compass B510 Premier

The Compass B510 Premier, new for 2006, is the top of line model booster car seat available in Compass' array of folding booster car seats. Children and parents alike will appreciate the numerous features a Compass booster has to offer.A wide seat with a triple-layer of padding makes for a comfortable ride. The flip-up arm rests make it easier to get kids in and out of their booster seat. State of the art side impact protection using energy absorbing EPS Foam assures safety in bad situations. Plus, the kids love the B510's sturdy retractable cup holders that are angled forward slightly to accommodate the natural lean of your automobile's seats.

The Compass line of boosters also features an easy-to-use 6 point height adjustment system that can accommodate kids up to 100lbs. and 57" tall, while leaving no gap in the padding that could cause lower-back discomfort.

Our favorite element of Compass' unique design is the simple mechanism that allows you to fold up your booster and stow it in the trunk, or take it with you in the carrying case that comes with your purchase of a B510 Premier. Also, the flashy designs and plush fabrics used in the B510 Premier are simply phenomenal! (The B510 Premier's "Pacific" design reminds us of the look used in the computer world of Tron) The end result is a look and performance that are hard to match. We can assure you that parents and "Cool Kids" alike will be thoroughly satisfied with this high quality booster.

New features from Compass for 2006:

  • Larger headrest and deeper side wings, providing optimal side impact protection and comfort for sleeping toddlers
  • Improved belt path for a better fit with children of all sizes – especially beneficial for taller children
  • Headrest tilts forward to fit newer vehicles with extended headrests

*EPS Foam is the same material used in bicycle helmets. The Compass B510 Premier has surpassed International Side Impact Standards.

Very Pleased!

I purchased this (about a month ago) as a spare seat for my husband's car or when a friend has my almost 4 year old daughter. I have a Britax Regent in my SUV, but needed something that was easier to move from car to car. And I didn't want to buy another high end 5 point harness car seat just as a spare. I am also getting comfortable with the idea of her not being in a 5 point harness all the time. This booster is the perfect solution. My daughter loves the pattern and says it is just as comfy as the seat in Mommy's car. I like the side impact wings and that as it is adjusted for height there isn't any gap in the back padding. The best overall feature is that the seat folds. This is our 2nd purchase from elite and I highly recommend this company.

This will be our 2nd Compass Booster for our other car. I chose it over a cheaper booster seat because of the side impact protection. Daughter loves the pink pattern and cup holders. She has no problem falling a sleep in the car and looks quite comfortable. A nice feature is that it folds. Beneficial for traveling. This will be the third purchase from Elitecarseats and would highly recommend them for their great customer service and speedy delivery.

Quality seat!

Our 6 y/o outgrew her Britax Marathon and was ready for a booster though we were nervous about going from a 5 pt. to a regular seat belt. We tried the Recaro Lite and Britax Monarch. Though both had more side impact protection than the B510 they did not work for our situation.(Vivo did not have padding on back, wings; Monarch wings bothered my child.) The B510 has side impact head wings, is extremely easy to buckle with its flip up arm rests, and is well-padded in the seat, back, and wings.Very comfy. The cup holders are actually usable. It's easy to transport between cars. My reason for 4 stars is that I wish it had more torso side impact protection. The best part is that Elite made it easy to compare various seats in my home and have FedEx pick them up for return. Elite also answered all my questions and had a car seat tech to speak with. Great service and great products!

Great Booster!

It's great that the back support remains covered (no gap like with the Parkway) as you adjust the height/back up--6 positions! It fits well into a bucket/captain's (sculpted) seat. Love that it folds up. Having the bag (premier models come with it; it can be bought for others) makes is easy to travel with. My daughter says the padding is soft and comfy.

Very Nice

We just bought this for our 3.5 year old daughter. She is big for her age but I put off transferring to the booster b/c of her age. She loves this seat and fits well in it. It's very well made with nice features. I even had a mom in the preschool parking lot ask if the comfy looking headrest came with the seat or was something extra that I bought. I'm planning on buying a 2nd one.

Great booster!

We got this as a back up seat for our 3.5 yo daughter. She LOVES this booster and is very comfortable in it (she even fell asleep which I didn't think she'd do). She loves the cup holders, but they're too small for the type of cup she uses, so she puts her snacks in there. The fact that it folds is wonderful. My husband uses it in his car and can fold it up and put it in the trunk when he goes to work. Since it came with a bag and is pretty light weight, we'll definately be taking it with us when we travel by plane next year.

It's also worth noting that the booster has fit quite comfrotably in my Volvo Cross Country, my husbands Audi A4 and my parents' Saab. The fit seems good in all the cars, which was a concern we had when picking out a booster.

The Compass B510 is a great seat. One thing to consider before buying this is that if you have a higher back seat such as in the expedition like I have it is a tight fit if you have it extended all the way up. Price is well worth it and the kids think they are cool.

Son likes it!

3
Reviewer: Cynde , Port Orchard, WA Date: September 09, 2007
I searched & searched & pondered on what to buy for my husbands truck (I have a Britax car seat in my car) but my son is now 4 so we wanted to try a booster seat. We first tried the Recaro young style & that one is way to narrow, so we ordered the Compass B510. He loves it, but part of me still wishes I would have bought the Britax Regent Toddler Car seat. Im not sure I like the fact that it is not secured in the car, & that it tips/slides a bit when going around corners (we usually try to keep it in the middle part of the seat for safety)& I still like having a 5 point harness. I wish there were a 5 point harness booster seat that is good to 100 lbs. We did just get back from a trip with it & the fact that it folds & has a travel bag for easy travel is nice but is a bit bulky to carry, but not as much as a car seat would be. It seems to be padded pretty well, but when my son fell asleep in it there was no support for his head & his head hung forward, I like the support of his Britax in my car, so I will be on the look for a neck pillow for support. If it reclined a bit that may have helped. Overall I like the seat, but would have probably held off getting a booster for another year.

Child with Sensory Integration

Easily installed the car seat. My 3 1/2 year old has sensory integration disorder & is very picky about how something feels. He immediately wanted to sit in it and then didn't want to get out! REALLY LOVE the width of the base - it actually fits in the space of one backseat in a regular car - not a SUV!
