Our Review of the Combi Flash EX stroller

If you're looking for a lightweight travel system solution, it doesn't get much easier than the Combi Flash EX. The Flash EX stroller provides all the convenience of a clip-and-go travel system stroller without the extra bulk. Your infant car seat carrier can be attached and removed from the Flash's frame without disturbing your sleeping baby. Perfect for travel, the Flash EX breaks down quickly with a simple tri-fold, and opens up easily with one hand. Once folded, just swing the carry strap over your shoulder and tote the 11 lb. Flash through the airport, on the bus, or throw it in the trunk of the car. The Combi Flash EX is ready to go anywhere! There's a convenient storage basket under the seat, and the Stroller Pack attached to the handlebar provides a place for two bottles, with a zippered pouch in the center.

Works with most popular, standard-sized infant car seats, including:

Lightweight stroller

We originally purchased an Eddie Bauer Travel System for our first child. After using the Eddie Bauer stroller, we found it to be too cumbersome and it took half of our trunk space. When my first child was old enough, we used the Chicco Caddy stroller instead (travelled Europe, Caribbean with it). With the arrival of our second child, we wanted a lighter stroller to use with our car seat. The Combi Flash Ex stroller is light weight and compact. It folds easily and the under basket storage, while not big, is sufficient for most things. We hang our diaper bag the handle bars. The only thing against this stroller is the lack of a mechanism holding the car seat to the stroller. The car seat just 'rests' on one of the bars and there isn't a bar to clip the front of the car seat to the stroller. This stroller uses a cross strap across the lap of the baby to hold the car seat in place. Caution, if you don't use this strap, the car seat can easily flip over backward if you hit a bump with the stroller. While the manufacturer says that the Combi Flash Ex is compatible with most car seats (including the Eddie Bauer), the cross strap is just barely long enough to fasten across our car seat. There isn't an extension strap to be purchased. When we use our car seat bundle with it, the strap isn't long enough so we're using a Bunji cord instead. The stroller is reasonably maneuverable but not very good when you try to get it over a small bump. You'll have to tilt the back to raise the front wheels enough to get over the bump. All in all, I would recommend this stroller if you're looking for something light weight to use with the car seat. Once our baby is old enough, we'll probably go back to using the Chicco Caddy stroller.

Love the lightweight and ease of this stroller

I am a big fan of the Combi system; I own the Combi Connection infant carrier seat w/ base, the Combi Flash EX and the Combi double, which is compatible with the carrier. I did a ton of research and this system works the best for my family. The biggest selling point of both Combi strollers is their incredibly light weight. When getting two kids in and out of the car, the ease of their weight and compact design is not only beneficial but essential. The only down fall of the carrier/stroller design is the fact that the carrier does NOT lock in the the stroller. It sits in fine and has a strap that crosses over the baby but I think for the price, Combi should be able to come up with a safer design. I am always cautious of this lacking mechanism and very careful so that the carrier does not tip out. Graco has the idea with the locking pieces which I have had in the past but has too much weight in the products.

wobbly

I use this with the combi connection seat. Even though these are designed to "go together", the seat is held in with one little strap. Hello - a real clip-in would be nice for the same brand seat. The whole thing seems very flimsy. Being so lightweight, this would benefit from a redesign to increase the base width to add some stability. Oh, and the basket is a joke - you cannot get to it once the car set is added on! The only good thing is that it flips open out of my trunk with one hand. Next baby I'll try something different - maybe a Peg ...
