Our Review of the Bumbleride Indie Twin double stroller

The Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller features the same easy handling and useful accessories that parents have come to expect in each Bumbleride Stroller. The Double Stroller version of the Bumbleride Indie Stroller, the Indie Twin offers slick, sporty styling and includes the accessories you'll need to hit the road with baby: rain cover, cupholder, air pump, and car seat adapter.

For 2009, Bumbleride has rolled out a few upgrades that make life with baby easier. Larger sun canopies adjust more smoothly than on previous year models, a rear pocket on the canopy holds small essentials, the independently reclining seats take less effort to adjust, and the new aluminum 3-spoke wheel design looks stylish and reduces weight. Additionally, the Indie Twin now comes complete with a rain cover for weather-ready strolling.

Awards & Praise for the Bumbleride Indie Twin

The Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller received 2nd place in the 2009 National Parenting Publication Awards (NAPPA). NAPPA is the most comprehensive awards program for parenting gear and the Bumbleride Indie Twin was chosen from among hundreds of competing baby products.

Standout Features:

  • Comes complete with a full accessory package: rain cover, cupholder, air pump, and car seat adapter
  • Large, independtly adjustable sun canopies with a rear pocket to hold parenting essentials
  • Aluminum spoke wheels for reduced weight
  • Easy-to-adjust independent reclines
  • Adjustable handlebar

Benefits for You: Form meets function in the modern lines and essential conveniences of the Indie Twin. An adjustable handlebar (32" - 45") accommodates moms, dads, and babysitters of differing heights. Because the seat fabric is removable and machine washable, you can keep your stroller squeaky clean. All non-removable fabrics may be spot cleaned.

While strolling with your children in the Indie Twin, the cupholder, easy seat recline, and large storage basket allow you to bring the things you need, and still have room for what you find along the way. For serious fitness walking, lock the front wheels forward for added stability. The included universal car seat adapter turns the Indie Twin into a total travel system.

The Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller's air filled swivel wheels make for an easy push under any condition while the adjustable handlebar means never kicking the wheels, no matter how tall you may be. Dual swivel front wheels handle store aisles with ease.

Compatability: With the included car seat adapter, the Bumbleride Indie Twin Stroller is compatible with the following infant car seats:

Benefits for You: Little ones not only look good riding in the stylish Indie Twin, they also sit comfortably with luxurious padding in the seat, a snug harness, and 12" air filled tires to make the ride smooth and cramp free. Separate sun canopies protect delicate baby skin from the sun.

An independent seating system accommodates each individual child. The soft fabrics and roomy seating of the Bumbleride Indie Twin make the stroller extra accommodating for your young ones. Added elements like the infant headrest and shoulder pads up the comfort factor even more. Each seat reclines completely flat to accommodate infants or napping little ones.

Safety:

  • 5-point adjustable safety harness
  • Foot brake
  • Front bumper bar

Comparison: For versatility between urban strolling, all terrain walking, plus light jogging, consider the Bob Revolution Duallie All Terrain Stroller. While the Revolution Duallie offers car seat compatibility, 16" rear tires, and a super compact fold, accessories such as a rain cover and car seat adapter are not included.

Almost everything I was expecting, except for one crucial detail

I just received my Bumbleride and I was very excited to get my twin girls in it so we could try it out. Up until now we've been using the Baby Jogger City Mini, which we love but I wanted a stroller with an adjustable handlebar (I'm 5 ft tall) and more shock absorption because pushing the City Mini was hurting my back. What's good about the Bumbleride: it pushes like a dream, the handlebar is at the correct height for my size, the fabric is high quality, and the storage pockets on the canopies are great. The disappointment: Bumbleride claims that the sun canopies are adjustable and "can be zipped off for extra sun coverage". I took that to mean that the canopy can be pulled forward to protect little ones from later afternoon sun (when the sun is low and in their eyes). This is *not* the case. The canopy barely adjusts at all and, in fact, provides *less* sun protection than the City Mini. This is a big disappointment for us, since we will be moving to a place with a lot of sun and that's one of the reasons I bought this stroller. I went back to the Bumbleride site to check out this stroller's clip and the narrator just says the canopies zip off to provide extra sun coverage but never shows it. My husband thinks maybe the company meant "extra sun coverage" to mean that there will be more sun on your baby's head. So, the stroller seems great with this one BIG exception. If I'd known that the canopy doesn't provide much sun coverage would I have bought the stroller? I'm not sure.

I, like most of the other reviewers, did my homework before I decided on a double stroller and I am very pleased with the Indie Twin. I knew that none of the double strollers would meet every item on my checklist, but this stroller comes pretty darn close. I wanted a side-by-side stroller that would fit my car seat, fit through doors without a problem and handle the sidewalks of our urban area, but also the trips to the mall. Pros -It's a good looking stroller. And while certainly not a priority for me, I get stopped everywhere with questions and comments about this stroller. -It's a breeze to push, even with the weight difference between a 2-year-old and 6-month-old. Although, in all fairness, my son is a hefty boy and my daughter is quite petite so there really isn't much of a weight difference! -The basket is very large and deep, and the pockets behind each seat are a generous size. There's more than enough room for all the essentials for the kids and the extras 2-year-olds throw in. -The inflatable tires are great. This stroller tackles urban city blocks and rolls through the grass at the park with ease. -It turns on a dime; this stroller handles well on any terrain. -Separate large sun canopies and separate easy to recline seats keeps them both happy. Not Pros, but Not Cons -Each seat is pretty narrow. Obviously if the stroller is to fit through a standard doorway, it needs to by narrow, which is why it's not a con, but two hefty kids are probably going to fight for elbow space. -The front bars are very high and the snack pack is a separate bar all together. From the pictures the snack pack looks like it fits right on top of the included bar, but you have to remove one to use the other. It's annoying and not that easy to unlatch. I actually don't use either at all. -The foot rest is short. I already said my 2-year-old is petite, but she has to bend her knees to place her feet on the rest, because there's a lip at the bottom of the foot rest, her feet can't just dangle. While not a total con, she whines when she gets tired and her feet slip off, which, in turn is very annoying! Cons -There is no latch to keep the stroller closed. I knew this before I bought the stroller, but now that I use it often, it's a pretty big con. This stroller is heavy, I expected that, but to pull it in and out of my truck without it staying totally latched makes for a very cumbersome job. I have an Expedition so hoisting this stroller up and keeping it closed is skill I have yet to master, even after 6 months of use. I finally bought a nice twin umbrella-type stroller to keep in my truck because I hated lugging this stroller in and out that much. I have tried a couple "latches" of my own fashion, but the tight fit between the seats makes slipping something through difficult. If I find something that works, I will update my review. -It's very awkward to fold. In fact, my husband will just put in the back of our Expedition open because he can't figure it out, which always makes it much more difficult for me (5'2") to pull it out. -Lastly, while the manufacturer states this stroller is compatible with the Graco Safe Seat, I think this stroller is just too narrow to safely accommodate this car seat. The Graco Safe Seat is wider than the frame of the stroller seat. While my daughter didn't care much that the seat encroached on her space, going through a tight doorway is either impossible or knocks into the car seat because it sticks out that much from the frame. I originally was only looking for a stroller that would fit my car seat and that's how the Indie Twin made my list, but I only used it with my car seat twice and then gave up. By the time he was 2 months, I would just put his seat in full recline, use the head roll and strap him in. All-in-all I really like this stroller for everyday city use. I am happy with my purchase and would certainly recommend this stroller.

I researched ad infinitum when it came time to graduate my twins from a "snap n go" with infant seats to a regular stroller. I don't jog, but based on the circumstances where I live, I wanted a stroller that could handle some off-roading. I considered pretty much all brands, even the more expensive Valcos, BOBs, etc. I decided on the Indie Twin and am so glad I did! It arrived from JoggingStroller.com in 2 days (!!), I put it together in 15 minutes, and it has made me and my twins happy ever since. Fantastic features include tight turning radius, very smooth steering, solid feel, ease of use/adjustment, HUGE canopies, adjustable height handlebars, and plenty of storage. The only real cons are the lack of a latch, which I knew about before I ordered it, and the size/weight. Yes, it is bulky and a bit heavy to lift, but I'm only 5'1" and can lift it in and out of my crossover vehicle without too much trouble. The one other thing I would mention if you have very young babies is to watch where their fingers/hands are before reclining the seats--there's a slight possibility of catching little fingers between the seat and the frame. Overall, I give it an A and feel that it's the best double stroller out there!

I love this stroller! It looks amazing, is incredibly durable, and my two kids (2 months and 2.5 years) love it. It easily holds my infant's car seat (Graco Safe Seat) and has plenty of room for my toddler and all of the toys she totes along. It easily fits through any door and turns on a dime. The only downside is the size - it is pretty bulky when folded but when compared to other double strollers it is competitive. I wish it had a locking mechanism when folded. It also takes up most of the trunk space in my Toyota Camry. Overall, this is the best double stroller on the market - I highly recommend.

I just love the stroller! My two kids are so comfortable in the cushioned seats. The ride is a pleasure even with a toddler and infant in the infant seat!I can actually push the stroller with one hand easily while talking on my cell phone! I have the one in sea grass. It is a fun and funky color and I feel like a celebrity pushing it. Everyone wants to know "what is that stroller?!!" The basket is extra large and the stroller seems very durable. It has a bugaboo sort of look and its the closest youll get to the bugaboo in a double. Totally awesome stroller! Oh and by the way, it comes with all accessories which cost a fortune by other strollers!! Really enjoying the Bumbleride!!!!

This stroller is amazing! I loved that the front wheels swiveled for better manovering and one handed steering. This stroller easily conquers curbs, rocky terraine, and uneven surfaces. My twin girls love it. There are only a few drawbacks to consider when purchasing this stroller. It is considerably bulky and takes up the full back end of my mid-sized SUV. There is no lever or latch that keeps the stroller closed shut. The company suggests that you use a bungy cord to hold it shut. (Not to classy looking after you just spent over $600 on this stroller). The netting material that the bottom basket is made of and the velcro straps that adjust the seat material on the back of the seats aren't very high quality or sewn very well. I was able to fix the material problems myself but i was still unhappy about not having a lever or latch to hold stroller together when folding it.

The Bumbleride Indie Twin is a great looking stroller and we get lots of compliments on it when out walking. Rides very smoothly over bumpy sidewalks and dirt trails. I have a 2 year old and a 6 week old. They both sit comfortably and take naps in the stroller. Very compact for a side by side all terain stroller. Difficult to fit into my Honda Civic but fits easily into husbands Honda Element. Overall, I love this stroller and would recommend it. Also, our Chicco keyfit carseat easily snaps into stroller.

I really wanted a cute double jogging stroller and was so excited when I found the Bumbleride Indie Twin. I get compliments every time I use it. I love that it came with the carseat adapter (fits my graco well), belly bars and tire pump and there is tons of storage-underneath and on the backs of the canopies. It's the only jogger I've ever owned and I love the smooth ride-the kids seem very comfortable and it's easy to push-even with a toddler and carseat. I have no trouble getting through doorways or making turns. The cup holder attaches to the right side of the stroller and makes it harder (but not impossible) to get through doorways so I think I will find one that goes over the handlebars. The folding is a little awkward and it's bulky, but not horribly so. It fits in my small suv easily and since I've done it a few times, it is not really hard to lift in. Overall, I'm very satisfied and love taking this stroller out.
