Love it!

I feel much better with my son having this seat. We have had it for several months now, and we love it. We had him in the Britax Marathon and then our other child moved up to that and we put our older son in a regular "seat belt" inexpensive booster...I was never comfortable nor confident with his safety. If he fell asleep in the car, he would slide down or slouch---which would obviously compromise his safety. With the 5 point harness, we are extremely happy and it is well worth the money!!!

Need a new, big car

I was so very excited to purchase this car seat. My 3 year old daughter is 43 inches and 40 pounds. She fit very comfortably in the car seat in the store. However, when we tried to put the seat in my 1999 Dodge Durango, we couldn't get it tight enough. There was way too much give. It was unsafe. The carseat requires a large vehicle with a tether and an anchor. If you're vehicle is smaller or older ... don't bother.

We bought the Marathon for our daughter and after researching booster seats, ended up choosing this one and would do it again in a minute. My daughter loves it. It's totally safe and comfortable. We are very happy with this seat and have one for each car.

Awesome carseat!

We just purchased this carseat for our 2.5 year old and we LOVE it...HE loves it! I purchased this carseat after reading the many reviews. I loved that it exceeds US safety standards and that it can harness my child up to 80 lbs. The reviews I read have stated how big this carseat is, however much to my delight it is not AS BIG as I feared. It sits higher than the Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 that we had but does not take up more than one seat in our 2007 Chevy Tahoe. Another carseat can easily sit next to the Regent. It was also not a bear to install, as some reviews have stated. Very easy using the LATCH system. I have gone through 4 carseats with my son and wished I had bought this one from the get-go. Definitely worth the price...awesome carseat!

A wonderful investment in my child's safety

I purchased this seat for my 4 year old son because I wanted to get him a booster type seat but wanted the safety of the 5 point harness. I probably researched every car seat on the market and decided on this one. All I can say is I absolutely love this car seat. I heard it was huge, it is very large, but it fits perfectly in my Chevy Tahoe. The fabric is super soft and my son is excited about being in a "big boy" seat and I'm excited about still having him in the 5 point harness. Wonderful!

Really wanted this to work -- but had to return it

I am a physician and mother of three who is absolutely fanatical about my children's safety. We currently have Britax seats and love the solid, secure fit and safety features. My one-year old is in the Boulevard, and my older two are outgrowing their Wizards. I have no intention of using a booster as the five point restraint is much safer.
We were very disappointed when this seat did not work out for us. We have a Yukon XL, and due to the need for three car seats in this vehicle, we hoped to install the Regents in our third row. This requires a lap/shoulder harness installation. Due to their weights, one child required a long route installation; the other required the short route per the Regent instructions.
Problem #1: The seat belts in this location are not long enough to accommodate the long route installation. I contacted Britax, and this is apparently not uncommon due to the width of these seats. They recommended having our dealership install extensions on the seatbelts. As is, the seat is already not usable for one of our children without modification of our vehicle seatbelt.
Problem #2: This seat is installed via two different routes with the lap/shoulder installation method, as mentioned above. (LATCH is not an option at this seat location in our vehicle.) Despite installing the seat exactly as instructed with the lap/shoulder harness, we could not get a tight fit. We could still pull the Regent several inches AWAY from the seat itself. The Britax representative suggested using a seatbelt clip, which can be done with this seat. The clip and the instructions would need to be sent to us separately (which they would do free of charge). The fit in our vehicle was so terrible, I was not very optimistic that the clip would resolve the issue fully. Plus, with the issue of the seat being too wide for our seatbelt, we decided this seat was not going to work for our vehicle. Unfortunately, I could not find any Regent info regarding the Yukon XL on the carseatdata.org site. I even spent considerable time on the phone with GMC people to clarify all the tether locations/limitations/etc. I really did a lot of homework and spent a lot of time trying to make this seat work!!! I was really disappointed that I was going to have to forsake the Britax brand as we had been thrilled with our previous seats.
Other thoughts: The installation in general is different and more difficult than the other Britax seats we've used. The seats, as you'd expect, are big and heavy, so be sure they fit in your vehicle. The Huntington fabric (which is what we had ordered) is really nice--even nicer than the computer image. There definitely appeared to be plenty of room for the child to grow into the seat as well. My five year old looked a bit dwarfed by it. I did not like that the shoulder straps needed to be manually adjusted; I am currently a fan of the simple side dial on our current seats to adjust this feature. The seat is also wide enough to make it difficult to even reach or use the seatbelt latches in the vehicle. I was practically trying to click the seatbelt into a latch that was nearly under the seat base itself. The mesh pockets on the sides don't seem terribly functional. As always, I love that the instruction manual is attached to the seat itself in front, just under the seat cover. I also wished this seat had the same side clip to secure the shoulder portion of the seatbelt harness with the lap/shoulder belt installation method. Our current seats have this feature, which makes the seat rock solid. Since the Regent does not have this, we could not get the same fit without using the extra, separate clip. If it had this feature, I think we would have been ok, even though our seatbelts do have the automatic lock and retraction feature.

Love this seat!

We just purchased this seat for our five-year-old daughter. We really wanted her to stay in a five-point harness, and she had outgrown her current seat. We are very impressed with the Regent. It is HUGE. In VA children are required to be in car seat/booster until age 8. We feel confident that this will be the last car seat we will need. It was very easy to install in our 2006 Honda Odyssey. My hubby did it in about 10 minutes, but I will say that he is an engineer, so this comes easy to him. FYI, a second Regent would fit fine in the second row of the Honda Odyssey. We were curious about that b/c of other reviews. I would highly recommend this seat for older children whose parents are concerned about safety. Like other reviewers have said, elitecarseats has awesome customer service and quick delivery. We received our car seat in two days with no shipping costs. Thanks elitecarseats. We will be back when we purchase a second seat for my husband's car. I guess my only wish is that this seat wasn't so expensive, but it seems worth the money to us to have peace of mind. Thanks again.

Infiniti Q7-doesn't fit

We really wanted this car seat to work but it's just too big for our car. Just wanted to let other Infiniti Q7 owners know if they were wondering if the car seat will fit.
Comments from The Staff:
Hello there,
I'm sorry to hear that the Regent didn't work for your vehicle. It is as I'm sure you read a very large seat and won't work for everyone. I hope that you find one to suit your needs.
I did want to reply and encourage you to submit your experience of incompatibility on a great website that I personally utilize often - CarSeatData.org. This is the only resource out there that has a database of car seat and vehicle fit information. I'm sure your feedback would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure would help others when shopping for a car seat. You can enter the information using their online form here.
Thank you again for your feedback and I hope you find something to work. Don't be afraid to contact us with any further questions.
Thank you,
Kelly

Britax Regent Toddler Car Seat

I love this car seat. It is very easy to install. The harness can be quickly and easily adjusted making it very comfortable for my passenger. She is also tickled pink with the pink pattern (the Madison cover)! She also enjoys the convenience of the side pockets to store her things within reach. I would recommend this toddler seat without reservation.
