Our Review of the BOB Revolution 12" AW stroller

Brand new for 2007!

The BOB Revolution 12" AW (Aluminum Wheel) stroller is a lighter and tighter variation on the original BOB Revolution. The new 12" AW is suited to families that want the quality and reliability of a BOB stroller, but plan to do more walking than jogging.

The original BOB Revolution stroller uses a 12" front swivel wheel and two 16" rear wheels, making it suitable for jogging by fixing the front wheel forward. The new Revolution 12" AW uses three 12" aluminum wheels to shave weight and bulk off the original. The 12" AWs wheel configuration sacrifices shock absorption for better all-around handling and a tighter fold.

Long story short: The Revolution 12" AW is the most manageable, lightest, and most easily maneuvered BOB stroller yet. Thanks to BOB's one of a kind tracking adjustment system you can easily maintain a straight course while jogging, should you choose to. The Revolution 12" AW also has a large basket beneath (and a smaller storage pocket behind) the seat for your personal supplies.

With the BOB Single Car Seat Adapter you can use your Revolution 12" AW as a travel system with these popular infant car seats:

Or, with the new full recline setting for the seat, your baby can lie back and sleep while you and your BOB handle business. Thanks to the air-filled tires, extra seat padding, and deluxe suspension system, infants and toddlers up to 70 lbs. toddler get an extra smooth ride. There are also pockets in the seat area for bottles, cups, toys, or whatever else might keep them distracted while you stroll along.

Bottom Line: This new take on the BOB Revolution is the result of consumer demand for a more compact BOB urban stroller. The Revolution 12" AW is the BOB of choice for families who walk more than they run, and need a stroller that won't take up so much room in their trunk or closet.

If you have two children, or just want a compact BOB stroller with some extra room, the two seated BOB Revolution Duallie 12" AW should suit you fine.

Great handling, poor seat design

3
Reviewer: Becky , Annandale, NJ Date: April 21, 2009
When I bought this stroller a year ago, it seemed wonderful. I was dazzled by its smooth handling and the way it seems to glide over the most bumpy and crumbly sidewalks my town has to offer. But after the dazzle wore off, its shortcomings became apparent. I agree with other reviewers that the seat is oddly designed - even in its most upright position, it has a pronounced curve that made my 1-year-old slouch. I understand why other reviewers with infants say their babies slump over. But my son was old enough that it didn't seem to really bother him, despite how uncomfortable it looked to me - and as I say, I was dazzled. So I kept it. Unfortunately, after a few months of non-use in the winter, it appears that my son, now 2, has grown into another major design flaw. Though his increased height means the slouch is not as severe, he is now tall enough to place the edge of a hard panel directly behind his head. This panel is a portion of the seatback which remains folded over - UNLESS the seat is fully reclined, not a popular position with my active little boy. But he won't ride for more than a few minutes now before rubbing the back of his head and complaining to get out. When he was shorter, his head stayed below this panel (which you can see in the pictures if you look closely). It's quite thick, and if I put enough padding there to really relieve the pressure of the edge, it forces his head forward and makes him slouch more than ever - still not comfortable. So it appears that I cannot use my expensive stroller until my son grows another 2 inches or so. I really don't get it. To get your money's worth, you really need to be able to use this stroller for years (and it is durable enough to do so). But it seems there is actually a quite narrow window of feasible usage. And by the time you discover this, it may be far too late to return it.

THE BEST Baby Purchase

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , Savannah, GA Date: January 16, 2009
I could not be more pleased with the BOB 12". It has been, hands down, the BEST thing we have purchased for our son. We have 2 greyhounds, so having a great walking/jogging stroller was a must...and this BOB delivers! Very easy to push and steer. It giggles at grass and laughs outright at gravel and sand. The suspension system is great and especially useful when our son was little. We also purchased the carseat adaptor (we have a Graco Safe Seat) and it fit great. We were out using it the second day home from the hospital. We also got the velcro handlebar cup holder - highly recommnded. The storage basket is smallish, but I found it was perfect for those quick trips to the gorcery store - stroller and shopping basket all-in-one. Now that our boy is out of the car seat I have purchased a Chicco C6 to keep in the car, as the BOB is heavy (over 20 lbs.) and can be a bit ackward to get in and out of the car. Now that baby #2 is on the way, we'll need to trade up to a double, but I won't have to spend even a second researching double strollers - we're getting a BOB!

Great for walking but not an everyday stroller

3
Reviewer: Susan , Harker Heights, TX Date: December 20, 2008
I use the Bob stroller for everyday walking with my 2 year old son. (approx. 2.5 miles/day) I was wearing the plastic "tread" off my Chico Cortina and needed something that would be easy to push and sturdy. My neighborhood has lots of hills and does not have sidewalks so I do my daily walking on asphalt. I also split my time between our home in Texas and our home overseas in Abu Dhabi and this stroller is used for lots of city walking and has to be able to handle curbs and bumps in asphalt. Pros: Extremely easy to push and turn. Excellent handling on sidewalks, asphalt, wooden piers, packed sand, grass, and gravel. (this is what I've used it in so far) I never kick the bottom bar when I kick my stride out for fast walking. The foot brake is very easy to use and keeps the stroller securely in place. The canopy provides excellent sun coverage. It is very easy to get my son buckled in and out. The hand grips are soft and comfortable to hold. Light weight and doesn't take up much room for storage. My Chico was just as heavy and took up more room. Cons: NO storage at all in the basket underneath and what limited storage there is, is not easily accessible. This is not the stroller to take to the mall and load up with your things. No cup holder or key storage.(I bought the additional tray) No padding in the chair. (I bought the sheepskin pad) No way to hook the buggy together when it's folded for storage and it has come apart on me several times when I tried to lift it into the car. My son's head is at the very top of the seat back and he will not have much more room to grow. When the canopy is retracted it hits the top of his head. He's only 34 inches tall so he's average height for his age. This is a GREAT stroller for walking and running, on and off road. It handles excellent, but this is not the stroller to take to the mall and use everyday. I keep it opened up in the garage and use my Chico for going to the mall.

range rover of joggers

5
Reviewer: hillary wald , aliso viejo, ca Date: May 21, 2008
I sold my bugaboo frog in order to buy this and a pliko p3 (keep it in car for mall, errands, etc). The bob stays at home...perfect for walking the dog and long walks. I like the 12" better than the original bob rev. as I am using it 90% of the time for walking not running- the smaller wheels make it smaller when folded and i just like the way the smaller ones look (more all terrian stroller vs. jogger). LOVE the black one, very classy. Pros- folds up flat and compact, clear window to see baby, hood is AMAZING (even with the late afternoon sun), ultra smooth ride, easy one handed steering, and great storage. Cons- a bit cumbersome for the mall (hence the pliko!), recline mechanism is horrible (you must bend down to do it and puttting it back up is even worse) and canopy style seat makes my 7 month old slump in the seat. The pros outweigh the cons but nonetheless it is not perfect. It is a bit pricey, but it is worth it. A must have is the console sold separately for water and keys etc. This could be used as your only stroller but i love the pliko too as it reclines so easily and is smaller .

Great Stroller

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , Bellevue, WA Date: December 14, 2007
I use this stroller for walks on city streets and on dirt and gravel paths. It is very easy to maneuver and handles curbs and bumpy terrain easily. It's compact enough to use at the mall, too. My 15 month old is very comfortable in it. The brake is easy to use and feels very secure. The stroller is easy to fold up and fits in the trunk of my sedan. I also recommend the rain cover. We use it a lot in rainy Seattle and it keeps my son dry while allowing him to look out and providing plenty of air circulation.

The Seat Back is AWFUL!!!

2
Reviewer: Anonymous , Denver, Co Date: December 07, 2007
I bought the infant seat adaptor but the Bob makes the infant seat sit too far upright so I had to pack blankets under the seat so my baby could recline and her head would not bobble forward. I have a peg... and that is one of the seats the Bob is supposed to work with. Now that my little one is sitting I was excited to use the stroller without the infant seat and its horrible!!! She absolutely hates it. The only position that is comfortable is lying almost completely flat so all she can see is the sky! I even bought a Bob warm and fuzzy and a snuzzler to try and help. The seat backing pushes her head and shoulders forward and looks incredibly uncomfortable. She just cries and fusses. I am so bummed out as this is the only stroller I purchased. I hope when she is older I can actually use this stroller... for now I guess I will have to buy another one.

Cadillac stroller with snack tray

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , Denver, CO Date: August 27, 2007
I love this stroller! I read a review somewhere saying it was the Cadillac of strollers. I tested one when I was pregnant and loved it! I purchased the car seat adapter for my little one to use his car seat. Now that he's too big for his car seat I finally got to snap on his snack tray to the bars from his car seat adapter. I like the added protection of knowing he can't jump out of the stroller. If you buy a BOB stroller, buy the car seat adapter/snack tray. Its wonderful!

Luxurious!

5
Reviewer: Gil Hanoch , Menlo Park, CA Date: July 19, 2007
After a week of use I can say it is luxurious, just like a BMW or a Samsonite suitcase. It moves smoothly, turns with no effort, folds easily. For an all-terrain stroller, I believe it is light and folds small. I use it for walking daily and love it. I tend to research every product I buy for many hours. If you are researching a walking stroller (probably great for running, but I haven't tested that part), you can stop the research and get this one - it is excellent!
